Okay everyone, I’m sorry.  It’ll happen again though, I promise.

No ignore feature in this forum.

Lol I apologize then. Ignore me Dia. I love one thing though. Someone noticed I defended Muslims as I do Jews.

I thank God for that. I really do.

As much as I have debated you it does not matter on all the issues except that one-the concept that we Muslims and
Jews and anyone else in conflict only asked to be treated with the same standards.

This conflict Dia like all conflicts is about people choosing to revert to simplistic notions of what is right, wrong, good, evil.

We know its far more complex then that but how do we challenge ourselves to talk in non absolute, non adversarial terms?

There are days I read back what I have written to you and say was it too extreme or not? Forums can lend to harsh tones in responses.

For example some times discussing Muslim terrorism turns into anti Muslim bashing no different than it does when discussing Israel but using terms that attack all Jews.

There is no difference between negatively generalizing against all Muslims, Jews, anyone. A lot of people feel that negative generalizes are o.k. if its in support of their particular opinion.

Trudeau did it. He stood up to answer a question on ISIL repatriation policies to Canada, and rather than discuss it intelligently pulled the Islamophobia card. In so doing he may not have thought so but he told Canada, if you question ISIL terrorists coming back to Canada it means you hate Muslims which is precisely the kind of comment that stereotypes, isolates and generates hatred against ALL Muslims. It lumps all Muslims in with ISIL members as being one and the same. It prevents Muslim Canadians speaking out against  ISIL repatriation and suggesting they all support the, coming back. I know many Muslims who came here to get away from the extremism of ISIL and its like and like me they have personal experiences with this extremism. They like me know this simplistic notion you can re-educate terrorists and turn them harmless is past insane.

The media missed that one. I haven't heard one media pundit criticize Trudeau for pulling the Islamophobia card on that debate.

Look I have read numerous stories criticizing Israeli state policies. Just start with the Jerusalem Post, or any Jewish newspaper, t.v. show or radio show. Some of the most vibrant powerful attacks against Israeli government initiatives comes from its media. They take no prisoners. The point is when the media does it they don't attack Jews for wanting to live in a Jewish state and they don't attack Palestinians for wanting their own state.

In fact those debaters and writers who openly use the conflicts of the day to either advance a platform to erase the Israeli state or Palestinian state, stick out in the Israeli media. Its here in Canada you find people claiming to understand and speak on behalf of Palestinians or claiming to understand what Israel is and what Zionism is who engage in the double standards.

Double standards can be intentional or unintentional depending on whether the person's opinions are deliberately intended to incite hate (one form of ignorance) or because of lack of understanding of the underlying issues ( another form of ignorance ).

You have experienced it. You get a gut feeling when you think someone is deliberately hateful as opposed to just unintentionally ignorant.

I've given you pretty wide latitude to criticize what I said.  That's fine.  Don't take it too far.

You want to be a moderator then do me a favour understand your last comment to me  triggered a bunch of monkey see monkey do responses.

I'm a little confused on this one, Rue. All he said was it was a long post...  ???

I am going to respond to your comments inviting you to put me on hold or ignore.

You stated:

"It's not arrogant, it's called not putting up with being called an anti-semite every time I mention Israel. That played out enough on the other forum, let's NOT let it happen here. Otherwise I am telling you politely to **** off.  You want to debate, then debate. Call me names and I will tell you to **** off."

*snip*
I would suggest it's not a good idea to presume to speak for me and tell me what you think I believe. Please ask. All  you do when you make comments like the above is  repeat your arrogant tone in manifesting a presumption you know what I think and that you  can speak for me.
*snip*

Then don't do it to others. I did not force you to respond. You seem to like to take the bate to play out a victim mentality. You do not speak for me, or for all Jews so don't pretend to know what I am thinking. Something you accuse others of very often. I could not tell you much on the other forum due to me getting suspended for calling you out on throwing out the anti-semite card and telling me to cut my dick off. This is a fresh start, so let's give it another shot. I propose a friendly handshake to say we agree to disagree and be more civil about it. Will you accept this gesture?

It was a remark a moderator should not make. It opened the door to the personal diversion the thread went in and I found his follow up flippant. However I subsequently read his response and Ghosts and have gone back and modified my previous posts in the spirit of what they said and your comment. You know I trust your judgement.

You really need to lighten up.  This isn't a formal place like that.  I'm not a 'moderator' in the normal sense of the word.  I only clean up messes and contribute where I want to.

1. You did not force me to respond.
2. I am no victim.
3. On the other forum you questioned female circumcision with words that made it appear no different than male circumcision thus I said you would need to cut your dick off.  A female circumcision cuts off much if not most of the clitoris, so its equivalent for a man would be cutting most if not all your dick off. You have deliberately left out the entire context of your comments which insulted women which resulted in my response.
4. On the other forum I have been very specific in what words of yours I have challenged as anti semitic.
5. On this forum I did not call you an anti semite or make any reference to it-you initiated it and brought it from the other forum.
6. I take your handshake and shake back you can never go wrong saying that last sentence you said or making a gesture like that. Its appreciated.

Fine I will take a dump but you need to laugh too. That bagel and lox line was funny. I went back and modified past comments in light of what you said.

Is Iran's handling of the revolt(s) going to be peaceful? Oh wait, that's only a problem if it's a white police officer shooting a black criminal.
