Have you found any evidence yet of your contention that the increase in sick children was because of social distancing and masking?

What else would explain it? Because kids aren't getting sick with COVID.

From this article

When it comes to the pressure from RSV, an infection so widespread that most people catch the virus by the time they're toddlers, there may be a ripple effect from the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Immunologist Deepta Bhattacharya, a professor at the University of Arizona, said RSV cases fell to very low levels in 2020, "presumably because of COVID mitigations" — a range of precautions that included social distancing, mask wearing, and widespread lockdowns during which a significant portion of the workforce began working from home.

There's a population-wide impact from skipping a year of infections, he said, since the immune system's antibody production after an RSV infection drops off fairly quickly.

Masking will not solve this problem, it will only ensure it is a crisis for longer, if anything. Not that children even wear masks properly anyway.

It's what my own pediatrician had told me when I had both my kids in for different levels of sickness.

If you know a child, right now, that's not either sick or recovering from being sick. . . you don't know a child that lives in the real world.

I think what's happening in China is an indication that COVID outbreaks can't be stopped.
Even widespread lockdowns don't work forever and COVID hits back even harder.
I supported the lockdowns we saw before a vaccine was widely available. But any forced limits to social interactions we see now are immoral.
Keep in mind that the chinese situation is a little bit different than the situation in Canada and the rest of the world.

The vaccines available in China are less effective than the mRNA vaccines like Moderna and Pfizer, and they are not willing to import better vaccines from the west.

Even with the vaccines, the virus still "found a way" to widely spread. Omicron blew past any attempts at mitigation. But it always only causes severe illness in older immunocompromised people.

It's no longer a Novel virus, people have been exposed to it in some form or another. Unless of course you've been in perpetual states of lockdowns the entire time.

I'm surprised they haven't ripped off the technology, China has never been reluctant to steal intellectual property.

Chinese companies are working on mRNA vaccines. I guess it takes time to reverse engineer that stuff, develop your own version, then build the plants to manufacture it.

Apparently chinese broadcasts of the FIFA World Cup deliberately block out shots of the crowds, since they don't want to show their citizens that other countries are now gathering in large groups often without masks.

Just think about that next time someone says, but Asian countries adopt mask wearing!!!!

Okay. I thought about it. Have you thought about the possibility that covid is responsible for children's diminished immune systems and not scary mask wearing?

Sounds like a conspiracy theory.  There’s absolutely no science to back that up.  There is though for masking diminishing immune systems.  Same with constant use of hand sanitizer.

I already cited a study that indicated that possibility. I can't help it that your reading comprehension is so poor.

I already informed you that your study didn’t include children.  Why do you continue to push unproven misinformation?

It was a study of people and people are children. I agree it's unproven. I said so and so did the article. But it's not misinformation. You are misinformation.

The study you cited only involved adults.

Do you think children are an altogether different species? It just raised the possibility and, unlike you, made no definite conclusions. Where is your evidence covid doesn't affect them in the same way? How can you be so sure of yourself, knowing you're always wrong?

The evidence is the science.  The flu is more dangerous to children than covid.  I can’t believe you’re still pushing this nonsense almost 3 years later.  Enough.
