Did I say masks don't work?

I don't think they work well against Omicron unless you're wearing an N95. And who's going to make a 5-year-old wear an N95.

I'm more commenting of all the social engineering that has gone into the last two years. Closed Schools. Trying to limit family gatherings. Treating any Cold Symptom like the Plague. And no indoor recreation.
Even when kids do have social interactions with other kids we had socially engineered adult lives so that they never really got exposed to many viruses. Those cheques, we as a society wrote, are coming due now.
Yep, the bill’s coming due and it’s really really bad.

Thanks Branch Covidians.

I'm thinking a class action lawsuit again every person and politician that supported the draconian lockdowns etc.  To them, the only thing that mattered was covid.  How short sighted and impulsive that was, but they didn't care.

The alternative was what, exactly?

I'm not sure. In hindsight I think a lot of what happened was very heavy-handed.

Did we really need to close schools so long? Did we really need to shut down most forms of recreation?

Kids have repeatedly shown to not fare as bad with COVID as older adults. Does that mean kids couldn't see Granny? Well that's the reality we had back then, and are experiencing now because kids are all getting sick at the same time.

I don't think you can talk about things being overly heavy handed without acknowledging what would have happened without many of those measures, which is a lot more sick and dead people.

That's not to say the response was perfect or without issues of their own, but everything comes with tradeoffs.

One thing I'm 100% sure of: when we have another pandemic, the response will be far less heavy-handed and the damage from it much worse.

The alternative was laid out in the Great Barrington declaration.  Branch Covidians spent their time trashing and denouncing it and the medical professionals involved, like good religious zealots do.

No it wasn't. The GBD contained absolutely no details on how it would protect the vulnerable and was wrong about herd and acquired immunity. Other than that, great stuff.

As I understand, doctors aren't sure whether the rise in child illness is a result from reduced exposure to viruses weakening the immune system or the long-term effects of covid weakening the immune system. Why are you so sure if they aren't?

Why does your trust need to be blind? Oh right. Because you can't understand what you read

Covid doesn’t weaken immune systems long term, especially in children.  Stop spreading disinformation.

You made the claim.  Please cite that it weakens children’s immune systems long term.

You should quote me where I "made the claim." It will be funny to see you realize you were foiled by your less than Grade 4 reading level again.
I said they DON'T KNOW. But studies suggest it might be the case, like this one:
"...some people with long COVID may actually have underactive immune systems after recovering from COVID-19..."

https://www.uclahealth.org/news/some-cases-long-covid-19-may-be-caused-abnormally-suppressed#:~:text=This%20leads%20to%20the%20new,other%20immune%20receptors%20or%20functions.%E2%80%9D

Now your turn to cite something that definitively contradicts that.
Maybe double down on the poor reading comprehension to save face. That's always a good strategy.  🤣
