Also Ontario went down by 1000 today !

Fingers WAY crossed here that it wasn't another data error.  Schools have been closed for 2 weeks though, so maybe that is that.

BC is bringing in new and improved travel restrictions.

No leaving your health authority area unless it’s essential.

Good news for our Island...   no more folks from the mainland coming here to go on a vacation to get out of their COVID hotspots.  It was contentious when BC Ferries added extra sailings for the Easter weekend to accommodate vacationers.   BC Ferries are also going to ensure that travellers are on essential business, which is a new thing.

All Parks reservations from people with an address outside the health region are being canceled.  All accommodation providers are being asked to cancel anyone vacationing, etc.

I think the shipment of kayaks coming to the Island mid-May are still be good to go...  Normally, I would hop on a ferry and go pick it up, but staying home as per orders.

your deflection attempts are so weak! Again, you so easily dismiss O'Foole's purposeful mis/disinformation (and outright lies) as nothing more than process/procedural actions to, as you stated, "score points"!

Still the child I see. When I see labels I have a hard time taking people seriously because they don't seem capable of making a point without them. It actually encourages me to tune them out.

There's no reason it should be going up. There was a 2 week lag in cases going up due to Easter.

Cases will now go down but deaths and hospitalizations will continue to go up.

Ontario is imploding - The wrong people are in charge.

If the waldo doesn't answer my questions the graham will assume the waldo is on the Liberal Party dole and is a paid hack spreading propaganda on here and elsewhere.

Bruce Arthur is a hack.

Ford has had a very terrible last 2 weeks, that's on him.  Banning people from going to outdoor parks but letting groups of 10 go inside religious places of worship and have weddings etc is a stupid decision.  Stop the weddings, stop the funerals, stop the church-going.

But this certainly isn't all the province's fault.  The GTA is a mess.  Peel is a mess.  The GTA and Peel have a ton of immigrant families, such as large South Asian families, who have many family members living on the same street and/or in the same household, kids and relatives from large families of different households on the same street playing together, eating together etc.  It's IMPOSSIBLE to stop that if people aren't following orders.  Then you add dense apartment buildings/condos across the city on top of that.  Then you add the many essential workers in these racialized communities.  And where's mayor John Tory in all this?  Where's Patrick Brown in Brampton?  The GTA is different beast, it isn't Edmonton or Halifax or Ottawa, it has over 6 million people packed tightly together, and there's hardly any green-space anywhere compared to most other Canadian cities.  I can't imagine the parks over the last year in GTA, they must be packed with people.

People aren't following guidelines, people aren't taking this seriously.  They can't enforce person A going over to person B's house for dinner.  Ford tried to bring in arbitrary police checks but it was cancelled due to community outcry.  GTA needs to get its sh!t together.

Does it matter if he is a paid hack or an unpaid hack...?

Any evidence that this is an immigrant cultural issue driving the numbers?

I don't see any other factors which would make Peel cases, and in particular Brampton, so high.  It's a suburb, it's not like it's extremely dense like a downtown would be.

Returning Canadians from abroad, international students and truckers.

Not sure your speculation about family dynamics really plays into it.  You’re making a lot of assumptions.

Not sure your speculation about family dynamics really plays into it.  You’re making a lot of assumptions.

"Regional health authorities say contact tracing has pointed to workplace and household outbreaks, social gatherings and travellers returning from abroad as the most common causes for new cases – 73 per cent of which are among those aged 50 and under.

“Since the Stage 2 reopening, we have seen a steady proportion of cases that are community-based and are acquired from large social gatherings. But we also have seen an increasing proportion of cases in the same households, those that are due to travel and a number of workplace outbreaks,” associate medical officer of health Dr. Monica Hau told reporters during a Sept. 9 news conference.
"

The other ones mentioned i'm sure are factors too.  I have an Indian friend who lives in Brampton and every Christmas pre-COVID they have over 40 family members gather for Christmas, most living in the same neighbourhood and many living as neighbours on the same street.  The children who are neighbours on the same street play with each other all the time.  I would have loved to have had my cousins and aunts/uncles etc as neighbours as a kid, so they are lucky, but for a pandemic it creates a unique challenge.

In my experience many immigrant cultures also tend to live in houses on the same street, but they don't tend to have families as large as South Asian families.  I had a Vietnamese friend who had a few relatives in other houses on his street, and I have a Filipino friend whose parents live in the house right next to him.  Obviously this isn't very common in western cultures.

My point in all of this is to not "blame immigrants", it's to say that that government restrictions can only go so far and certain communities have unique challenges that only they themselves can deal with, government restrictions won't fix certain contacting issues.

The demographics in the Hot Zones.

Obviously it's also socio-economic. Lots of people with hourly jobs that can't take sick days.

But also people in multi-generational homes with a strong sense of family.

Earlier in the pandemic the fear was people in these jobs infecting the Grandparents. Now it's worker at a factory coming home and infecting the entire family.
