The UK was doing 12 weeks between shots and a lot of doctors were criticizing the move.  16 weeks is really pushing it.

It's obviously a ploy to placate people who are not happy about Canada having no vaccines....

There are a lot of vaccines now.

NACI has changed guidance today. The science of vaccines says that spacing shots out is generally a better idea in terms of developing immunity. 4 months is about mid point of what's done for some other vaccines, such as those for Hep A+B. AstraZeneca is proven to do better with longer spacing.

Health Canada has changed the label for Pfizer again. It can now be stored at -15C for up to 2 weeks. This makes it much more practical.

Trudeau said we'd have a vaccine by around Christmas, and that was around last fall.  So he was right.  I guess I believe him about the rollout timetables.  It would be dumb to make up false promises on that.

The federal target of the end of September is extremely conservative. There are secured, approved doses for 52M people by September 30th as of right now.

This is disturbing. I hope it doesn't become a trend with vaccine exports from Europe. It could be really bad for us if it does.

Thankfully, we aren't getting any AstraZeneca from Europe.

Because Pfizer is now meeting their commitments to everyone, I don't see it being a problem.

Belgium is the one that matters in this case.

With today's announcement, anticipating a 70% uptake on vaccines, every Canadian over 30 can be fully vaccinated by September 30th.

Belgium is just one of the 27. The Australia shipment was blocked by Italy.

That's because the AstraZeneca doses were being exported from Italy. The Pfizer plant is in Belgium.

Pfizer has been keeping their promises to Europe. AstraZeneca has not. Thankfully, our AstraZeneca proper doses are coming from the US.

You're right.  Our men and women fought and died to save their stupid butts when we didn't have to lift a finger.  Germany is calling for the export ban...we had to help pull those jerks off of Europe for this?

I know an elderly lady who showed me a scrapbook she made during the war of obituary newspaper clippings of all the boys who died in the war that she went to school with.

If this goes down I hope Trudeau has the guts to retaliate.

As of this week, sustained daily vaccine distribution capacity rises from 75K to 114K.

The week of the 22nd, that increases to 248K doses per day. That's enough for 2% of the Canadian population to be vaccinated with their first dose of COVID vaccine every 3 days.
