In April, Pfizer alone sends enough for 107K vaccinations a day.

We may finish about 1-2 weeks behind Europe, at worst.
Meanwhile and coming soon...

Probably just in time for people to forget about the present shortages and opposition parties everywhere to profit from accusing governments for not anticipating this and holding out for a better deal.

With the arrival of AstraZeneca, daily capacity increases to no less than 110K the week of March 8th and 140K the week of March 22nd.

This probably has a lot to do with the ability of greater numbers of human beings in these societies to retain their wits. If we were surrounded on all sides by an ocean instead of having the longest border with the stupidest country on Earth we'd probably be up there with New Zealand and Australia.

hey Gorgeous, perhaps you and the shytehead's that thought your post was funny could explain just what a Bloomberg analysis/rating of 53 country economies has to do with the Liberal Party of Canada... hey!

just imagine, Bloomberg... one of the largest global market information organizations, had the audacity to score 53 country economies and publish an analysis and ranking to indicate the effectiveness of the handling of the virus combined with the least amount of disruption to business and society. In so doing, Bloomberg considered key metrics that included, among others, the viral caseload, mortality rate, effectiveness of trace, treat, and isolate strategy, the capacity of the health care system, the impact of lockdowns, freedom of movement of the population, and vaccine supply arrangement. Apparently, to some, Bloomberg ranking Canada at 12th position... has the approval of the Liberal Party of Canada. No word on how the federal Liberal Government of Canada views this ranking placement... equally, no word on how the respective federal Opposition Parties view this ranking.

Still pessimistic. With a 70% uptake rate, there is enough contracted vaccine in Canada for everyone 35 and over to get both doses by June 30th. That will only increase.

I think, considering Canada's relationship with the US and Europe, who have handled this Pandemic the worst, we've done well containing the virus.

But our vaccine plans have proven to be an abject failure. It's good that we don't have out-of-control spread and death.

I think most people will change their tune on that in a pretty big hurry to be honest. We’ll finish at the same time as basically all of Europe, it not before.

This is interesting. It makes sense to get as many people as possible vaccinated as soon as possible. Why the 16 weeks though, what specifically is it based on? It isn’t that much of a stretch for AstraZeneca because it is already recommending 12 weeks but why the  others?

Listening to Dr. Henry, it's based on the science that underpins basically all vaccines. The longer you wait (up to a point), the better.

The UK was doing 12 weeks between shots and a lot of doctors were criticizing the move.  16 weeks is really pushing it.

It's obviously a ploy to placate people who are not happy about Canada having no vaccines....

Agree.  But we've also been at the mercy of suppliers, given our domestic incapacity.  I'd say our vaccine plans have been mediocre but really there's not a TON more we could have done.  We aren't the US in terms of vaccines no matter what.  I have friends in the US in their 30's getting vaccines right now, but they've also contracted COVID because they live in a southern state filled with idiots and half of their coworkers are refusing to get vaccinated.

Thankful the deathrates on COVID aren't enormously high, 2.5% death rate in Canada.  It's not the black death, could be so much worse, wake-up call for future prep.
