An interesting article from Scientific American about Coronaviruses and reinfection.  It seems likely that regular Covid vaccines will be needed, as we do for the flu now.

Maybe they can come up with a vaccine that combines the two in a single shot.

Covid-19 is unique and the 'flu' is not. Each time we get a flu shot it's for a different virus for the most part. As far as I know it's not an update or a reinforcing shot you get each year. But you could do a thorough investigation of the question for us?

Your rational approach is encouraging for this board!

You’re truly an ignoramus who just talks out his ass.

The other poster just said that experts are saying the COVID vaccine may need to be an annual vaccination, like the flu vaccine.

700+ new cases, 11 deaths.  I think its going to get stricter.

I find BC is really complacent because we got lucky in the first wave.  This goes for both leadership and people.

The longer they wait the harder it's going to be.

Businesses are basically pleading for a mask mandate to back them up and help them protect their employees and customers. I'm starting to think Dr. Henry is just being bloody minded in not imposing one. What can it hurt? She is starting to lose people like me who were big fans and would have liked to stay that way.

Be calm be kind be safe does have it's limits. At this point I'd be fine simply offering covidiots more money to stay at home if that's all it took make it through the final push to Vaccine-Day.

You're lucky to be on the island at least.  I wish I wasn't in this petri dish.

The government needs to start doing something immediately.   Time for an Aussie-style lockdown.  That is literally the only way to contain the virus.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/victoria-australia-manitoba-analysis-1.5804343

Quote
Victorians weren't allowed to have any visitors at home except for caregiving, compassionate reasons or to allow services such as plumbing to occur.

They weren't allowed to visit friends and family outside their homes except to visit lovers, provide care or services, to hand off or receive kids as part of joint-custody arrangements or for compassionate reasons.

As for exercise, Victorians were only allowed to, say, go running with members of their own households — or one other person, if they lived alone.

If that sounds like a lot, residents of Melbourne were also subjected to a curfew on Aug. 2, when Victoria reported 671 new infections in a single day.

That figure is equal to 142 new cases in Manitoba, again when you adjust for population.

It is clear that Manitoba is nowhere near as serious about clamping down on COVID-19 this fall as Victoria was a few weeks into the Australian winter.

On Monday, Manitoba disclosed 392 new cases, which would translate into 1,848 new cases in Victoria.

On the very same day, Manitoba health officials declared the province can not sustain many more days with case counts in the hundreds because the health-care system is already at capacity.

"We can't sustain this number of cases in our health-care system," said Dr. Brent Roussin, Manitoba's chief provincial public health officer.

I would be open to that.  Pick a day, have everyone prepare, and shut 'er down for a few weeks.

Only thing is unlike Aussies, our close proximity to the US has resulted in an abundance of COVIDiots who have politicized a virus.  I see them every day on Facebook comment sections of local news.  Some may be trolls but their comments get so many likes, I wonder.

I don't know about Australia, but maybe they just have better people than us too.

It's not just the virus, people and business' needs to be contained as well.  Shutting everyone down without compensating them will only makes things worse and spread more covidiocy as exasperation and frustration build.

Recall that poster "We stay at work for you and you stay at home for us"

It's only a few more months...print the money people need NOW.  You don't even need printing presses a few strokes of a keyboard somewhere and voila. Problem solved.

The US did quite well for themselves yesterday with 1806 dead for the day. They could be on their way to herd immunity. Only 50 million, give or take, to go!

Trudeau needs to keep the border shut tight to keep them out and quickly diversify trade relations to China as much as we and China can find possible.

It's doubtful that anybody feels bad for their political foes when they contract Covid-19. Especially the media when they always add their disclaimer that's something like, Nobody wants to see anybody die. LOL

Of course they do, just like you do!

The ugliness of America has infected Canada, much quicker than their Covid pandemic they're encouraging for themselves.
