So none of your links say how the orders will be filled between the different countries.  I’m already aware that many countries have ordered vaccines from several companies.

Please provide a cite that states which number Canada is in the line, since your contention is that we’re way down near the bottom.

I don't know where we will be but it won't be at the top. Those orders by other countries were made before ours. There is no reason to order anything on spec before it has finished testing other than getting a better delivery date. That is simple logic.

Why order early if you aren't reserving slots? If you aren't getting some kind of priority, why not wait till testing is finished?

I don't know that we will be last but we sure won't be at the head of the list.

that's right - YOU DON'T KNOW! You don't know ALL the particulars of so-called pre-purchase agreements. You don't know which countries are relying entirely upon outside manufacturing of successful vaccine candidates... or which countries, per agreement, have secured the rights to manufacture the vaccine themselves... or which countries will be relying upon a mix of outside manufacturing and, per agreement, secured rights to allow in-country manufacturing. YOU DON'T KNOW!

no reason to order anything on spec? Say what? C'mon member wilber... some of those "on-spec" orders by countries are associated with allowing respective manufacturers to run trials in those on-spec ordering countries. But, of course, those countries have to have that high-disease burden to properly support a phase 3 trial - which, apparently, Canada doesn't have:
...founder & CEO of CanSinoBIO, Xuefeng Yu... highlights, Canada lacks a "high disease burden" required for Phase 3 trials:

in any case, CanSinoBIO moved on to sign partnership agreements with companies in Russia, South America and East Africa - where that so-called, "heavy disease burden" suitable for Phase 3 trials exists.

member wilber, when does your "on-spec" order agreement become a... partnership agreement? Oh wait, is that another reason?

ultimately, this rush to so-called "Vaccine Nationalism" will be tempered with a realization that the global nature of the pandemic requires ALL countries receive a vaccine in the same general timeframe... which realistically... practically, means per-country selective vaccination of essential persons, those at high(er) risk, etc.. Obviously, we are not safe unless everyone is safe - a country can't go back to "normal" if raging epidemics persist across much of the rest of the world - GLOBAL economic recovery!

oh snap! The CDC Director (Dr. Robert Redfield) was supposedly already on 'thin-ice' with Trumpy... now, today, he undercuts what Trump has said many times over; as recent as yesterday claiming a vaccine is but "3 weeks away"!  ;D Most Americans probably won't be able to get a Covid-19 vaccine until mid-2021, CDC director says

Quote
While a "very limited supply" of a Covid-19 vaccine might be ready in November or December, it "will have to be prioritized," CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield told the Senate Appropriations subcommittee Wednesday.

"It will be those first responders and those at greatest risk for death, and then eventually that will expand," he said.

"If you're asking me when is it going to be generally available to the American public, so we can begin to take advantage of vaccine to get back to our regular life, I think we're probably looking at third, late second quarter, third quarter 2021."

Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet has tested positive for COVID-19.

CPC leader O'Tool purposely crafted a means to disingenuously attack the governing Liberal Party/PM Trudeau: as Parliament is an essential service, MPs (and their families) have access to dedicated COVID-19 testing services. In spite of this, O'Tool initially chose not to use this available service; instead, as a "man of the peeps", opted to take the public route in Ottawa... despite it being widely known that this public route was backed up for days given a lack of (Ontario provincial domain) testing capacity.

so... O'Tool decides to stage an act of fake outrage over waiting then being turned away at the public test center... and puts out a widely covered press release emphasizing, "the Trudeau Liberals have created this mess by refusing to approve other testing methods". In actuality, Health Canada regulators are currently reviewing 3 rapid testing options - but have real concerns about the accuracy of the testing; specifically: "Quidel Corporation's Sofia 2 SARS device, Becton Dickinson's Veritor System for Rapid Detection of SARS-CoV-2 and a third candidate, Korean-based SD Biosensor, Inc". Of course, CPC Shadow Health critic, BuffaloGal Rempel, takes up the charge and doubles-down on the claimed government failure!

by the by: O'Tool then decides to take the fam to the dedicated testing service for MPs and family members. Wait, what's this:

CPC leader O'Tool tests positive for COVID-19. Oh my!

I thought Erin O'Toole could end up with serious repercussions of COVID, but holy crap, he's 47?!?  He looks like late 50's/early 60's.

by the by: shyte happens - Sept 9, 2020!

Quote
A large, Phase 3 study testing a Covid-19 vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford at dozens of sites across the U.S. has been put on hold due to a suspected serious adverse reaction in a participant in the United Kingdom.

The participant who triggered a global shutdown of AstraZeneca’s Phase 3 Covid-19 vaccine trials was a woman in the United Kingdom who experienced neurological symptoms consistent with a rare but serious spinal inflammatory disorder called transverse myelitis, the drug maker’s chief executive, Pascal Soriot, said during a private conference call with investors on Wednesday morning.

the waldo let this slide... but going on 2 weeks now, it's now time to highlight the U.S. trial still remains 'paused': With AstraZeneca's vaccine trial still on pause in US, questions abound about study participants' mysterious illnesses

to-date, secured formal dose agreements have been reached between the Government of Canada and the following drug manufacturers using their respective candidate vaccines:

=> Pfizer - BNT162
=> Moderna - mRNA-1273
=> Novavax - NVX-CoV2373
=> Johnson & Johnson - Ad26.COV2-S
=> University of Oxford / AstraZeneca - ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 (Canada is in the final stages of negotiations to secure this candidate)

wait, what!  ;D ... just throwin' member wilber a bone!

Canada has signed deal for AstraZeneca vaccine candidate: PM

Quote
Canada has signed a deal with Cambridge-based AstraZeneca PLC to buy up to 20 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday.

Trudeau also told a news conference that Ottawa would invest C$440 million ($328 million) in the COVID-19 vaccine Global Access Facility, a global procurement mechanism designed to help deliver fair, equitable and timely access to vaccines.

Canada has already struck agreements for a total of around 300 million doses of vaccine candidates from Pfizer Inc, Novavax Inc, Sanofi, GlaxoSmithKline Plc, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

You may want to address COVID-19 with big fat government programs; we're conservatives, we don't believe in that

Deputy Prime Minister Freeland reminds the CPC MP for Carleton, Pierre Poilievre, what he said when asked what support the government should offer to Canadians hurt by the pandemic:

CPC ShadowMinisterForHealth, the Buffalo Gal member from Oklaberta Michelle Rempel, has been nattering on about the failure of Liberals... Liberals... to approve "Point of Care" rapid Covid-19 tests (tests that can be performed outside of labs... like in doctors offices, clinics, (perhaps pharmacies)). Of course, the proper review and approval process is done by Health Canada - which has now authorized the use of the Abbott Laboratories "ID NOW" rapid testing device that can produce results in 15 minutes - the fourth point of care rapid test the health authority/regulator has approved; as follows:

in a related announcement, the federal government indicated that it would buy some 7.9 million ID NOW tests from the U.S.-based firm for distribution in Canada.

by the by, Health Canada has also previously reviewed and approved 30+ Covid-19 lab-based tests...

Trump was asked about the daily U.S. Covid-19 case load again returning to a level above 50,000... says there are significant outbreaks among nations globally - mentions Canada but doesn't provide any figures: like Ontario hitting a new record of ~900 and Canada, at large, an ~2500 number! Oh my!

so Ford finally makes a lock-down move:

Quote
Affecting Ottawa, Peel, and Toronto public health unit regions, the measures include:

    - Reducing limits for all social gatherings and organized public events to a maximum of 10 people indoors and 25 outdoors where physical distancing can be maintained. The two limits may not be combined for an indoor-outdoor event;

    - Prohibiting indoor service in restaurants, bars and other food and drink establishments, including nightclubs and food court areas in malls;

    - Closing of indoor gyms and fitness centres, casinos, bingo halls and other gaming establishments, cinemas, performing arts centres and venues, spectator areas in racing venues, and interactive exhibits or exhibits with high risk of personal contact in museums, galleries, zoos, science centres, landmarks, etc. Personal care services where face coverings must be removed for the service will also be prohibited

go figure - across Canada, high case breakouts in fitness clubs/gyms... particularly spin classes! Oh my... who would have predicted that!

The World Health Organization now says lockdowns cause more harm than good.  Advocates against them.

You covidiots can apologize to me through private messages.  I was right.  Most of you were 100% wrong.  But your Branch Covidian dogma had you all goose stepping to the same tune.  Try and think for yourselves sometimes.  Use common sense, logic and reason.  Not everything is about “owning” Trump or his supporters.

From your link:
The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganise, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted, but by and large, we’d rather not do it.”

So not entirely forbidden, but to be used judiciously.

Relative to many places, BC and even Canada as a whole, had pretty mild lockdowns.  So I guess we got it right.  :)
