Here a project for you.  Learn that the primary source of spread is by touching.  People piled on top of each other make masks moot.  That’s why the recent surge.

You forgot the reopening measures plus people generally being morons when they go out not wearing or social distancing.  I'm sure the protests have made things worse but they aren't the only reason.

No doubt that people have become complacent.  But Florida and Texas have been opened for almost 2 months.  So if reopening was to blame, there would’ve been big spikes in cases several weeks ago.  This new outbreak coincides directly with the protests that have been taking place since the beginning of June and currently.   This is what would be expected if a bunch of people contracted the virus a couple of weeks or so ago.

So if you were wrong when you said the virus doesn't spread easily out of doors and it's much more contagious than you thought, I guess you see Trump ignoring the pleas of public health officials to call off his indoor rally is tantamount to a terrorist act.

There are spikes in Florida, and new restrictions:

And Texas is hitting pause on reopening:

But no spikes in Covid from protests though:

There go your theories, Shady.

I didn't see many BLM protests in Phoenix. Arizona has some of the worst numbers.

You're not seeing comparable spikes in places in the Northeast that respect the virus, even though there were protests.

Heck there were protests in Canada and our numbers are low.

About those protests:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/recent-protests-may-not-be-covid-19-transmission-hotspots-11592498020

Oops.

It's funny that those on the Right would blame the Protests. Even if there were spikes because of the protests. It would be evidence that social distancing is required.

It seems the super spreading is happening indoors and not in outdoor public places.

Places in the Southern US right now might as well be like Canada in January, people aren't spending a lot of time outside. It's too hot.

People in the US south are also pretty ignorant and don't wear masks or socially distance because "freedom".

This week i have been in Save On Food stores in Burnaby, Langley and Abbotsford. Mask wearing decreases as you go east. About 80% were wearing masks in Burnaby, 50% in Langley and no more than 10% in Abbotsford. An exception is the senior hour before regular opening at Abbotsford Costco where over 90% of people are wearing masks.

I was at Canadian Tire in Coquitlam today and I was expecting to see 65% people wearing masks since it's between Langley and Burnaby  ;) but I'd say it was closer to 30-40%.

One thing about Vancouver which I think could attribute to BC generally fairing better than other big provinces is the fact that our metro is about 50% asian and asians are a very mask concientous population even prior to COVID.

I would often see people in my neighbourhood wearing masks which used to seem odd, but now I'm grateful.  Even today I took note that almost all asians were masked and the non-masked were non-asian.

In Surrey, no matter where I go, I'd guess close to 90% of people are not wearing masks, and i haven't seen a mask on a store clerk in weeks.  I guess Surrey people think they are invincible, other than the Superstore clerk who has recently tested positive.

I just read about the Superstore clerk in Surrey.  That's awful.

None of the workers in Canadian Tire were wearing masks either.  One was taking up half the aisle too making social distancing impossible.  Very disappointing.

Probably 90% here - and you can't go into a store without one.

I have enjoyed finding lots of local things that are interesting.  I grew up in a small town, and now I'm in Canada's biggest city ... but confined to my neighbourhood which is smaller than the town I came from.

PS - read the first 10 pages of this thread for a weird flashback...
