I think it's fair to say a good majority of any political stripe who answered Trudeau did a good job had a good really really bad comparison looming in the background of their consideration.

Anyone know a reason why boat launches would be closed?  I don't understand the rationale for that.

What boat launches are closed?

I can see why some would be.  I had to be careful about how I launched my boat the other week cuz of ignorant people, so I can see why small launches might be closed if the local officers witness stupidity going on.

EDIT:

I googled.

On March 30, the province of Ontario issued an emergency order to close all outdoor recreational amenities, including boat launches and private marinas. These measures align with the city’s efforts to minimize travel, keep people home and avoid gatherings in public settings.

“This was another difficult decision, but one that was made in the best interests of the people in our community, and with advice and support from Public Health Sudbury and Districts,” Mayor Brian Bigger said in a release. “Greater Sudbury is home to more than 300 lakes, and we are coming up on the time of year when people begin to get back out on the water. I understand the impact these boat launch closures will have on residents, but they are necessary to keep everyone at home and safe.”https://www.thesudburystar.com/news/local-news/city-temporarily-closes-all-municipal-boat-launches

Seems be an effort to make it harder for people to gather.

You make a good point that it will discourage some travel.  People also have to travel usually to go to a place on the water.

Ontario borders Quebec, could prevent cross-province travel too.  It will also discourage people from going to their cottages, which again to discourage travel.  Ok it makes sense now.

On the lower mainland, all the government and hydro launches as well as the Harrison lake launch.

Thank God the beer stores are still open. We all need a little reprieve from the daily stress. ;D

Harrison Lk is a party spot...  this will reduce crowds.  I don’t find it an issue.   I won’t go back and use the one I was talking about earlier.  Too many idiots.

I can see why the beach would be closed but social distancing is pretty easy in the middle of a lake.

The idiots don’t stay in the middle of the lake.  Plus, you’ll need people patrolling and trying to corral these numbskulls, which is a waste of resources right now.

Trump first plied his magic elixir back in mid-March... and was soundly criticized by medical experts/media for the lack of substantive data/research/results to support the claim he was parroting. But now Trump is further emboldened to, once again, tout the "wonders" of Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine as COVID-19 treatment drugs!

of course Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine are long-standing legitimate drugs used for treatment of malaria and certain inflammatory conditions... since Trump's snake-oil show it has been increasingly difficult for persons with lupus, with rheumatoid arthritis, etc., to fill their prescriptions given the idiocy of Trump worshipers capturing the market of available Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine

imagine the Annals of Internal Medicine printing something to counter carnivalBarkerTrump!

Use of Hydroxychloroquine and Chloroquine During the COVID-19 Pandemic: What Every Clinician Should Know

strangely... Forrest Trump no longer speaks of his miracle drug! First it was France and Brazil stopping trials given related deaths and coronary risks to patients, now within a U.S. study of hospitalized military veterans confirmed to have COVID-19, more deaths occurred among those given hydroxychloroquine versus standard care.

Actually people are being very good about keeping their distance and I don’t think boating would be any different. Awful hard to get too close to someone without getting wet.

"perhaps"..."without telling us"?  ;D The waldo prefers to deal in known knowns... rather than your musings and speculation! A known: there is no scientific evidence to support the view/belief/factual testament... that travel restrictions work; this, among other aspects, reflects upon another known: that Global Health Officials do not recommend the deployment of travel restrictions.

That was a whole lot of typing to concede that no, you can't explain why our government had stopped listening to Dr Tam and the WHO regarding travel restrictions.

You can do this Kimmy....

Oh okay I get it.  The Greatest Generation sacrificed everything to fight World War 2, and snowflake Millennials think they're making a sacrifice because they can't go eat avocado toast with their snowflake friends. Hilarious!

Food banks and women's shelters and crisis lines are being pushed to the brink, and when we do get data about suicides and domestic violence during this time, people are going to feel very bad about posting stuff like this.

I'm kind of disgusted right now.
