The flu has a 0.1% fatality rate.

That's far less than the numbers I'd read elsewhere - interesting.

I think where publications are **** up with the flu stats is this - flu deaths represent 2% of respiratory deaths per year.  The mortality rate isn't generally 2-3% (excluding the Spanish Flu).
