I attended the peel region Mass vaccination site just over 2 weeks ago for dose number two. As a manager, I was stunned by how well things ran.. people by chiefly Young and apparently first generation canadians. It was wondrous.

In my experience when you have a constant high volume of clients bearing down on you an office tends to get very efficient really quick, because if you don't it just gets out of control, people complain, huge lines form, and you have to serve everyone eventually anyways.  If you don't have a high volume you don't have to rush, workers get slower and sloppy.

That makes sense, to a point.

Makes a lot of sense around a boat when fish are in a mood to bite. There's usually a clock counting down the time left to make hay and a bunch of invoices that need paying as well to keep you focused.

Long periods of grinding punctuated by moments where ya fill yer boots!

- people fully vaccinated => ~38%, 6.7 million persons
- people with at least one dose => ~65%, 11.2 million persons)

Canada’s cautious re-openings have really done Canadians a good service.  And, no one can deny that our vaccine rollout, and uptake, is 2nd to none after what seemed like a shaky start.

I wonder how much is due to the Feds, due to the provinces, and/or simply due to Canadians being willing to get the vaccine.

All 3.

But if the feds didn’t do a good job at procurement, #2 and #3 wouldn’t have mattered.

July 16th - the day that Canada passed the United States for percentage of the population fully vaccinated... given U.S. vaccine hesitancy this 'gap favouring Canada' will only increase!

beginning Aug. 9, fully vaccinated U.S. citizens and permanent residents living in that country will be able to visit Canada without having to quarantine for two weeks; additionally, fully vaccinated travellers from all other countries to enter Canada on Sept. 7.

all travellers must use the ArriveCAN portal to submit their proof of vaccination/information:

So how do they verify the documents are real? Why are we doing this without co-ordinating it with the US?

So how do they verify the documents are real? Why are we doing this without co-ordinating it with the US?

Quote from: Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) spokesperson, Jacqueline Callin
Uploading relevant documents to ArriveCAN prior to arriving at the border is just one step in the screening process to ensure that all documents provided by travellers are valid.

Border Service Officers are trained in examination techniques and use indicators, intelligence, and other information to determine a person’s admissibility to Canada as well as making a determination that travellers are being truthful and that their documents are authentic.

As no global standard for vaccine documentation exists, some travellers may attempt to use fraudulent documentation when seeking entry to Canada. The CBSA will continue to work with domestic and international partners to detect and intercept such documents as early as possible in the travel continuum.

So we are opening the border unilaterally without the US. Every drug store and supermarket chain was vaccinating people in the US and CBSA are supposed to be able to recognize any piece of paper the issued as authentic? I hope there is a lot more to this because it doesn’t look much like “working with other countries” on the surface.

This time it's the US that want the land border closed to non-essential travel for another month. Canada was going to open it August 9th.

Is this telling that they predict their anti-vax fuelled outbreak will get worse before getting better?

Canada has an App to ensure vaccination, I doubt there's anything like that in the US.
