Substantial crowds in New York doesn’t mean that it’s a good idea.  LOL

If they're numbers are low enough, why not?

California has roughly the same numbers as Canada.  They have much higher fully vaccinated populations.

That's not the point. We're not just talking about States full of rednecks that won't get vaccinated. The "responsible" states are loosening restrictions as well. And they're number are pretty good.

Again, America is the WORST example of what to do during the pandemic.  You’re going to have to find better examples…. America ain’t it.

Well except the part where they nailed the vaccine distribution.

Their numbers, despite the vaccines, are still worse than ours.

Recently our numbers have dropped substantially. But in recent weeks the US numbers were better per capita.

Even so, 1,600 cases yesterday while the US had 13,000 new cases. The uS still is lower. And considering they're mostly open while much of Canada is still locked down, that's not really good.

No one is even asking for mask mandates to be lifted in Canada. Just quit telling businesses non-essential business they can't operate.

Being fully vaccinated tends to help…

But there is absolutely nothing wrong with being more precautions than the dumpster-fire that is the USofA.

and all this fits where in the throes of a global vaccination gap... particularly with, for example, the pent-up expressions of, 'free at last... free to travel at last'?

=> more than 3/4 of the world’s vaccines have been administered in just 10 countries

=> in Africa, less than 2% of the population has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine

a catastrophic moral failure by wealthier nations... a scandalous inequity that will prolong the pandemic for... everyone? And, of course, the more the Covid-19 virus replicates, the greater is the chance for natural by-product mutation and the creation of established 'variants of concern'.

Does it though?

Precautions are one thing. Telling people they can't open businesses for months on end is another.

Parts of the developed world still has a polio problem.

Is the first world supposed to put a pause on opening their economies to help the developing world?

False dichotomy.

If people are suggesting that we should put things on hold here until the third world catches up in vaccination, then it's not a false dichotomy, it's a pertinent question (and one with an obvious answer.)

People wanna keep moving the goalposts until they're not even in the stadium anymore.

Looks like the PPC is only 3% more reckless than the LPC.

So what's the proposal then?

We are on track for a large portion of the population having their second dose by September. The variants provide the urgency to get the most number of people their second shot before the weather cools down.

Perhaps we should donate the 300,000 Janssen shots the Feds are just sitting on.
