Supposedly BC needs to up its vaccination rate by about 1/3 to reach its March target. Should be doable.

Not sure I believe that....   to give 80% of the population their FIRST dose, it will take doubling the level immediately until end of September.    So maybe the March target is small, but that means it will have to way more than double after March.

The March target is modest and it will have to go way up after. Got a cruise booked for next January and will need to be sure I get my second shot before I have to make the final payment. Tempus fugit.

The day finished with 1 out of every 229 Canadians being vaccinated, or just under half a percent of the population. A small amount of supply arrives this week (125,000 doses), and nearly 400,000 next week.

Shady has a point when you are critical of Trump for his actions or non actions when it comes to state responsibilities but don't hold Trudeau to the same standard.
He would if that were true, but I can't think of a time I have been critical of Trump's actions with regard to state responsibilities. My criticism of his coronavirus response was that his messaging was of a fucktard in how he downplayed the virus's seriousness and severity. We have paid dearly for that because of the fucktards in his influence.

He did, and he also threatened to withhold assistance to states he didn't like. He also has similar limitations on what he could do.
On the other hand, Trudeau has handed down legislation which put responsibility on others, with no guidance on how to make it work.

The federal government has paid for over 80% of pandemic spending.

I'm not talking about spending.

What, specifically, should the feds be doing that they aren’t?

Well, perhaps they could steer the boat a little straighter and holler stroke stroke stroke a little more cogently. Just a suggestion.

That said maybe a better analogy for Canada would be a little fleet of row boats trying to tow/push a barge...thru Surge Narrows.

I've already mentioned one. The government has directed airlines to make sure passengers have a negative covid test within 72 hrs of boring a flight back to Canada. No guidance how they are to accomplish this in multiple countries with multiple governments and health care systems. Just do it in one week. This is something the feds haven't imposed at Canadian airports in the ten months since the pandemic began. Aviation is a federal jurisdiction. Apparently they are fine with sick people getting on aircraft and mixing with healthy people as long as they are leaving the country. Garneau has been a huge disappointment during this pandemic.

I'm glad this isn't the bubonic plague.  That killed off 1/3 the population of Europe.  Those must have been crazy times.

As of right now, 1 out of every 199 Canadians has been vaccinated. More vaccine is arriving today.

Ended the day with 1 out of 193 vaccinated - really picking up now.

Still way too slow.

Especially Ont/Que.  BC is vaccinating at a rate 50% higher than Ont/Que.

It took them until today to start vaccinating in my city...  we shall call it Squidville.  It is nowhere near Kim City.
