Yes, I concede that flattening the curve, and even the stay at home orders were necessary, especially during the first month or so when little was known about the virus.
And the more you do it, the better able you are to manage it. Even with the shut down, largely uninhabited states like North Dakota couldn't get their numbers below 30 new cases a day and still can't. But in a shutdown where people are willing to cooperate, the numbers can eventually drop to nothing, as they have in Manitoba. That's a very desirable place to begin opening up because then, with effective tracking, you can stay open.
Nothing will hurt the economy worse than know-nothing Trumpers downplaying the seriousness of the virus and encouraging it to be spread further. That will just get everything shut down again.
