To start with all this tape shows is that this girl assaulted IDF soldiers and they showed commendable restraint:
http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/05/middleeast/ahed-tamimi-palestinian-activist/index.html.
Thanks for that. It really puts this girls' activism in context - something that original article writer failed to do. It was also nice to soldiers tasked with protecting society from harm reacting appropriately to unarmed rabble rousers. Too often these videos show the opposite.

Seems this kid has been an “activist” since she was a little girl.

That’s called exploiting your child for political purposes.  It is also child endangerment.

Yes.  The first paragraph of the article in the OP puts assault in quotes but it was assault, so there you are.  And that seems to answer why this isn't taken up as a human rights case, widely.

To answer Dia's question directly-some of us feel this girl is a prop- a young child who was taken at a very young age by her own parents to be used as
a political prop-a girl ironically who summarizes everything  wrong with the Palestinian liberation movement-its choice to use its children to engagein violence and pose that as a legitimate expression of heroic political discourse.

I agree then, that it's wrong to use one's child as a 'prop'.

Thank you Dia.

A way back in July of 1999,  at a kibbutz (Artzi)  ar Giv'at Haviva, the French Ministry of Education financed what as called, “The Village of Tolerance,” . I knew someone in the French government involved in this. At that time French, Palestinian and Israeli underprivileged youth, met for a week and used  music, drama, and art to interact. From that a joint music band came about and toured Europe.

That said, I would love to take this angry girl and other young women her age, and Israeli girls her age and bring them together away from their parents and adults in a neutral, safe environment. That is the best way to defuse time bombs of human form in my humble opinion who have trauma. I have had my share of youth her age spit at me.They are spitting at an adult world that betrayed them. Adults were supposed to make them feel safe and did the exact opposite whether it be her parents, the IDF, etc. For me she is the symptom not the cause. She is a symptom of adults having failed to protect children and teach them positive possibilities.

For me she is at one level my daughter. On another I see someone programmed to explode on command. Whether its too late to defuse her so to speak I do not know. I  hope she can find something other than anger to get through her life.

You may be wordy, but one thing I like about you is that you actually read what I post and respond to that with reason - even if we disagree, there is conversation.   I've seen video of Israeli adults providing kids with info designed to make them hate/fear Palestinians and Arabs, and I've seen the same from Palestinian adults.   It is the kids who suffer the most, and what better way to create extremists but to start them young?   And it's effective; it's why recruiters in Western lands focus on young people rather than results.

It just makes me so sad.

Who me wordy? ;D I

It sucks to see any children robbed of their childhood. It sucks to see these supposedly "different people" bleed and cry the exact same way.

It sucks to see this girl feel she has no choices or future. I see this young girl I think of Anne Frank and say what the phack have we done to our
daughters...

Ahmed was arrested for protesting the Israeli cops.  Malala was shot in the freaking head by Taliban and survived, by the people the west has been at war with since 911.  That's one of the main differences.

It is how we justify killing each other, by creating hatred, to imagine them as nothing more than evil that needs to be crushed...it takes a life time to over come this hate, some people will never forgive or forget....talked to some marines that were fighting the japanese in WWII, there was some deep hatred in some of them.....sometime the hate is to deep...
