So was George Washington and several other U.S. presidents. None were like Mubarak, Sisi, or Morsi. Egyptian politics is a merry-go-round. The French have the perfect expression: "the more things change the more they stay the same".

My point was, both were military, Morsi wasn't. Egypt pretends to be a democracy but in reality, he who has the support of the army rules.

Egypt has had only two non ex military presidents, Sadat and Morsi. Both came to untimely ends, the others died of natural causes.

Sadat was also military, he was a "Free Officer" like Col. Nasser (he was actually Vice president under Nasser). But I do take your point. Nothing happens in Egypt if the military doesn't approve.
