Milk Toast Trudeau Disappoints Again
« on: June 17, 2021, 08:41:39 am »
What is it with Trudeau and China? What will it take for him to stand up to that bunch? The Chinese government has no respect for him or Canada.

I don't think unfollowing the US is a good strategy unless we are negotiating for something from them.

If the 'west' is starting to unite against China, that's a good idea whose time has come but we will be frozen out if we don't step carefully.

good job wilber... right in line with the latest CPC/O'Foole 'China talking point'! It appears this is the only relevant passage within your linked article:

Quote
Reporter Question to PM Trudeau: Is the goal that as long as China is an authoritarian one-party state, that it not become the world's top power?

PM Trudeau Answer: No. The goal of the G7 has always been the success not just of our countries and our economies, but the success of the global economy.

whaaa! Apparently, this is "not standing up to China"! Of course, there's always the official G7 closing summation communique... member wilber was Canada/PM Trudeau not a signatory to that communique; the one that included this related passage, vis-a-vis China & the global economy:

It's weasel words, it commits to nothing. It tells our allies we can't be relied on.
We are China's dream. That's nice, now go away little boy.

WTF! What you call "weasel words" are words agreed to by all G7 leaders - get a grip hey member wilber!

meanwhile that standard Conservative ploy is to claim Canada isn't "standing up to China"... while at the same time continuing to charge the government is abysmally failing to bring home "the 2 Michael's". Typically Conservative!

That's just politics, the fate of the Micheals cannot influence the way we approach China.  Canada is not sticking up to China. There has to be a common front regarding China, not just words, or it will just play one country off against the other. Australia stands up to China and is punished. Canada rushes in to take Australia's place and then shakes in its boots so it won't get punished, because it knows no one else will stick up for it. That's the way China works.

member wilber - you tried to go a long way with that single Q&A mentioned in your linked article - you failed! One would think you'd have more to say in terms of retracting your nonsensical narrative... particularly after the waldo quoted that relevant/related China passage from the official G7 leaders closing summation communique. That coupled with the linked to CNN article I referenced should certainly ease your claimed disappointment - yes?
