I agree with extreme vetting for some sources.  I'm not sure I agree with the exact method though.

Except there's no vetting that's going to show everything.  The scary thing is one can live a mild mannered life and not draw attention to themselves thus passing vetting and then all of a sudden fall off the apple cart.

In my opinion the best way to make things more secure here is for economic growth to happen in the Middle East under a steady rule of law, that way a lot of them have no reason to come here as things are better over there.

Well, no, but we have to be realistic about our goals.

True, and some people can live a mild-mannered life in Canada and then fall off the apple cart.  I guess there is no way to entirely eliminate all risk, whether it's from Islamic terrorism or home-grown terrorism.  Other than eliminating the reason for terrorism such as ...

I agree, and perhaps the first step in achieving that is to stop our interventions in the region and stop all proxy wars.   But what are the chances?

I'm willing to make additions. But I think anyone who doesn't think their womenfolk shouldn't be communicating with males who aren't related to them is probably not the kind of guy we want here. That would seem to me to indicate insufficient interest in adaptation for what we're looking for.

I don't have a clue what extreme vetting means, other than some dumb marketing slogan by a used car salesman. Canada has absorbed many million immigrants in the past 20 years, and we have had far more problems from the old stock Canadians.

Oh really...

The problems come from poor people whether they are immigrants or old stock.

I think we probably do a lot of what I'm talking about here.  Biometrics, comprehensive background checks, interviews.

I'm not objecting to this as a 'test' per se, except that the men may allow their women to be closeted with a man alone because it's a necessary to immigrate, but then in the way of bullies/abusers everywhere she may pay the price later.

Make him look at those Danish cartoons, too, and if he starts tearing up the office don't let him in.
