Long Divided, Iran Unites Against Trump and Saudis in a Nationalist Fervor

Reading the article (excerpt below) one would think that Iran was a mild-mannered country stirred to fury by Trump's election and minor changes in Saudi Arabia. You wouldn't know that this was a country that:
1.   Held repeated demonstrations where crowds yelled "Death to America" or "Death to Israel;"
2.   Declared Israel a "cancer" that had to be wiped off the map;
3.   Provided aid to Hezbollah and other regional pot-stirrers; and
4.   Has been trying to develop nuclear weapons.
Iran is by all accounts one of the most dangerous nations on earth. Travelers are detained without reason or explanation, often on trumped-up charges. Just because Obama had some naive illusions about it being a regional force for peace, it is not.

The excerpts below would have you believe that Iran's dangerous bent is new.
Quote from: New York Times
After years of cynicism, sneering or simply tuning out all things political, Iranís urban middle classes have been swept up in a wave of nationalist fervor.

The changing attitude, while some years in the making, can be attributed to two related factors: the election of President Trump and the growing competition with Saudi Arabia, Iranís sectarian rival, for regional dominance.

**********

At the same time, they now believe they have something to be proud of, with Iranian-led militias playing a central role in defeating the Islamic State militant group in Syria and Iraq, increasing Iranís regional influence in the process.

Reading the article though one wonders how the reporters reach some of their conclusions. How do they know that "Iranís urban middle classes have been swept up in a wave of nationalist fervor" or that "they now believe they have something to be proud of" in their prowess at killing people. Do the people speak freely to the press? And if they believed in world peace and brotherhood would they open their mouths and risk getting a bullet put through the head?

Sometimes I don't know what the media is thinking when it runs this kind of garbage.
Trump - Watch what he does, not how he says it.

Iran is a shithole filled with more than the usual number of shitheads run by shitfarts who you couldn't trust to hold the door open for your elderly disabled grandmother let alone have any kind of in-good-faith diplomatic relations with.  That's all anyone needs to know about them.

But as for Saudi Arabia, what a fantastic dandy place I tells ya!  Trump?  Hell of a chap!

In response to Cuck's last response its like being asked which one do you want to die slow and painfully from, liver cancer or pancreatic cancer.
I can hear Cuck now, don't care-just leave the bottle and the pills and get the phack out.

On a more cheerier note, the European Union attempt to placate Iran via Obama's pathetic display will go down as a monumental error of appeasement like Neville Chamberlain centuries from now but at the moment the world does what it does on an individual or collective level, it engages in the psychological exercise of denial and abuser identification. It believes if it turns its boogy man into a creature with human qualities it won't feel so endangered by the boogy man. Well Chamberlain did say Hitler was a reasonable person.

Iran has proven what was evident. It is an extremist nation using the money it got back when the sanctions were lifted not to build its country but instead to finance terrorism around the world.

Iran has some people in an open air Shiite extremist prison unable to build and create a country and trapped in a primal society ruled by a few Alpha male baboons. Its students, its free thinkers, all have had to leave. Its a shame.

Its no.1 adversary Saudi Arabia now as a new Prince who is hell bent on defeating Iran and creating his own empire. These two nations are like two feuding factions in the Klingon Empire if I may use that analogy.

The Russians are the Cardassians. So you got Cardassians, Borg and a feuding faction of the Klingons and then you got the other Klingon faction and who else? Right now the Captain of the USS Enterprise is completely incompetent and I am not sure if the Star Fleet Academy is capable of training anymore Picards let alone Kirks or Janeways.
You have me mistaken with an eagle. I only come to eat your carcass.

In the paper today, an upset Iranian wrestler ordered to throw his match against the Russian by his coach. Why? Because the coach was following orders. Iranians are not allowed to compete against Israelis, and if he beat the Russian - which he was doing easily - he would have had to face an Israeli. Can't have that. So he basically surrenders and lets the Russian roll him all over the mat.

So why is Iran permitted to compete in international sports again?
