The lighting and colour are nice. The representation of the people seems sort of cartoonish and unreal and could use some work. Not sure about the obvious bigotry and contempt towards submissive bottoms though. Seems kind of homophobic.

Does anyone else see a remarkable symmetry of the outrage response in culture right now ?

I see this as being a response to the inadequacy of the media in covering ALL points of view.  "Mainstream" means the middle, and even if it's the middle 80% of views covered, there leaves a lot on the edges that is left out.  New media have been trying to amplify these voices and succeeding too.

Here's one.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/killer-of-edmonton-flower-shop-owner-sentenced-to-6-years-in-prison-1.5689517

Meth-head kills a guy while on probation for another violent offense, gets sentenced to 6 years. But with "enhanced credit for time already served, he will have 2½years remaining on his sentence."

During the timehe has already served, this young man has made great strides in turning his life around:
Quote
Cushnie has admitted using drugs while he has been held in custody at the Edmonton Remand Centre. He has also admitted joining the Redd Alert gang.

"I was angry at the world so I joined," Cushnie told the Gladue report author. "I feel at home here cause I am on the gang unit with other gang members. I am used to this life now."

What happens when he's out in 2.5 years?

Quote
Cushnie's criminal record includes convictions on 31 charges. Nine were for violent offences.

"Mr. Cushnie demonstrated entrenched antisocial and misogynistic attitudes," psychologist Dr. Debra Jellicoe wrote in her report. "He views violence as a legitimate means to solve problems."

After conducting a battery of tests, Jellicoe concluded that without making significant changes to his lifestyle and substance abuse, Cushnie presents a very high risk to commit more crimes and poses a high risk to re-offend violently.

Dollars to donuts, he's going to hurt or kill somebody else. You know it, I know it, the judge and the lawyers know it.   In two and a half years, somebody else's number is up. I have friends and family that live in the area where Mr Armstrong was killed by this thug. I hope they're not his next victims... but if it's not them, then somebody else's friends and family are going to cross paths with this guy, and it's just a matter of time. 30 months or less.

I think that's an outrage.

Imagine being the imbecile who wrote this:
Quote
A new documentary series about the extraordinary story of South African Paralympic and Olympic sprinter Oscar Pistorius (...)

The Trials of Oscar Pistorius tells the story of the 'Blade Runner' - an international hero who inspired millions with his determination and dedication until Valentine's Day 2013, when he suddenly found himself at the center of a murder investigation.

It's the inspiring story of an international hero who shot a woman four times while she pleaded for her life behind a bathroom door!

He's an extraordinary man who murdered a young woman.

You know, one reason that "suddenly found himself at the center of a murder investigation" is that he murdered someone.

I think the reason this made my blood boil is that it makes it seem like the important thing to remember about Oscar Pistorius is that he could run really fast on his flipper thingies, and posits his murdering a 29 year old woman as sort of an unfortunate footnote to the story.  It has a kind of "Well, aside from that, how did you find the play, Mrs Lincoln?" tonedeaf idiocy.

The BBC got seriously shat upon for this post, as well as for a trailer for the program which barely mentioned that he murdered a woman.

Quote
We have removed the trail for The Trials of Oscar Pistorius that was posted on social media earlier today.

We regret that the original trail did not refer to Reeva Steenkamp directly.

We are aware of the upset it has caused, which was never the intention. We have removed the trail and it will be replaced by something more representative of the series, which examines in detail a number of complex issues connected to her murder.

They replaced the promo with a short blurb that says:
Quote
This four-part documentary looks in detail at the life of Oscar Pistorius, the tragic murder of Reeva Steenkamp and the issue of gender-based violence in South Africa.

Which is slightly better but still makes it sound like her murder was some tragic event that happened somewhere and some time during the Oscar Pistorius space-time continuum, as opposed to acknowledging that he murdered her.  Why can't they mention that he murdered her? Does that take too much shine off the inspiring international hero?

I tried to get a conversation going on Gian Ghomeshi too but it was too politically sensitive for most people.

I'm all for the feminist agenda but a step back is in order so that credibiity is recovered and maintained. I know that doesn't follow your priorities with you topic but it does relate to the title of the thread.

Paul Bernardo had a parole hearing yesterday.  He was denied, happily.

One of the details reported during his hearing is that he hoped to move here to Kim City. He thought he'd be more anonymous, less infamous, if he was here instead of in Ontario where he committed his crimes.  He had apparently been offered a spot at a halfway house here in town, the "Bridges to New Life Society".

I walk by that building just about every day, and I was picturing what would go through my head if I saw that animal on the street.
