So what part of this:  “untold suffering due to the climate crisis”   Is an issue?

Such a statement is not science, it is emotion.

Yeah I did read, which is how I was able to quote.

You read it but you didn't understand it.  Improve your reading comprehension before crapping on me.  Every post you read on here goes through some weird bias filter in your brain that picks out what you want to hear and ignores what you don't based on some preconceived notions of who and what you like or don't like.  Then after you've found someone or something to hate on, you proceed to b!tch and complain.

It's a moral plea.  You could say it if a small number of people were suffering and it would apply...

Exactly, it isn't science. Even if it is true, it isn't science.

It's what we know will happen because of...science...ffs.

"untold" is not a scientific conclusion, it can mean whatever you want it to.

And global ruin is not a certainty.  Neither are flooded cities.

Is that why NYC hired an expert from Holland to advise them on how to build dikes/trenches to help them deal with flooding?

There's a huge amount of variables when it comes to future warming and what will happen to our environment.  It's possible to wager an educated guess on what may likely happen but it's impossible to predict precisely what will happen, besides more obvious things like rising water levels and ice melting.  There's too many variables that interact with each other to know with precision.  Models on warming go by projections and probabilities, like any projections do.

That's why it's hard to accurately predict the weather beyond a few days...too many interacting variables.  If one variable changes it can have a cascading effect causing a change in everything else.  Also why it's hard to predict how a ie: baseball player will perform next year despite 10 years of prior data to go off of.  Age, injuries, opponents, teammates, coaches, contracts, personal circumstances, weather, etc are some of the many variables that can all change making projection models impossible to be accurate, but probabilities of what's most likely to occur are possible.

No one says anything about “global ruin”.  You’re making that up.   That flooding stuff...  fake news!!

At least 97% of the professional environmental scientists know the difference between weather, which you are talking about, and climate, which they are talking about. Some of what they have predicted have already materialized. Ice leaving the arctic, sea level rising etc. Trying to conflate that issue with baseball is rather humorous I must say. :D

Again you completely missed my point and are punching at strawmen.

Baseball general managers use advanced statistical models to project future performance of players.  See the movie/book "Moneyball".  But player projections in baseball, like climate or weather, is only an educated guess based on statistical probabilities, as it's impossible to predict with any certainly what will happen in the future when vast numbers of variables are involved.  So it's entirely relevant because we're talking about data models.

You continue to try to conflate baseball/movies with actual science. The "educated guesses" as you call them relating to the latter are and have been proving themselves to be accurate. I'm sure you'ved heard of Greenland? The ice falling off there is showing up in sea level rise as predicted.

Do you not know what 'certainty' means ?

Do you know the difference between risk and certainty ?

If I bring my umbrella does that mean it 100% will rain ?

From the article....

Green New Deal sponsor Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The latter said, “The world is going to end in 12 years if we don't address climate change.”

So you didn't read it...
