Canadian Politics Today

I have been keeping close comms. with an old friend of mine who now lives in Nfld. especially as she goes through this wicked storm that hit the island. She lives in a house in an area on the harbor known as "The Battery". Her neighbors house was one flattened by an avalanche that it looks like occurred as a result of combination of heavy snow fall and hurricane level winds. The mayor declared a state of emergency and ordered that area evacuated so she ended up having to walk a km or so to get to where she could get a ride in a police car to a downtown hotel. I was going to complain about having to shovel a foot or so off my driveway here on the west coast, but I think now I'll shut up.
