https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paris_Agreement

Looked for something on there, didn't find it.
https://unfccc.int/files/essential_background/convention/application/pdf/english_paris_agreement.pdf

Here are some choice excerpts:

Quote
2. This Agreement will be implemented to reflect equity and the principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities, in the light of different national circumstances.

Article 9
1. Developed country Parties shall provide financial resources to assist developing country Parties with respect to both mitigation and adaptation in continuation of their existing obligations under the Convention.

8. The Financial Mechanism of the Convention, including its operating entities, shall serve as the financial mechanism of this Agreement.

The "financial mechanism" is pernicious (link):

Quote
From the perspective of the GCF, while the annual target of USD 100 billion is in itself not new, the introduct ion of a floor on the level of climate finance going forward post
-
2025 presents an acknowledgment that climate finance needs to be further scaled
-
up in order for the Agreement’s objectives to be realized
(see Figure 1) . The GCF is explicitly recognized in the Decision as a key multilateral funding source that is to support the flow of ‘ adequate and predictable financial resources’
( p ara
55)
.
The urge to develop a roadmap for reaching the stated financing target by 2020 and beyond is also a significant devel opment given the current ambiguity revolving around the magnitude and origin of future finance flows. More certainly and clarity on Parties’ future funding pledges and its underlying terms and conditions will support the GCF in making funding decisions goi ng forward. Sources of funding Article 9 of the Agreement stresses that ‘ developed country Parties should continue to take the lead in mobilizing climate finance from a wide variety of sources, instruments and channels’ (Art. 9.3) . This follows the Conven tion’s principle of common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities, as also reiterated in the Agreement (Art.
2.2). Which country should take on what responsibility, and how this relates to the annual USD 100 billion target by 2020 is left open and will be based on self-assessment and determination.

The fund also stresses the importance of promoting environmental, social, economic and development co
-
benefits and taking a gender
-
sen sitive approach. The requirement to take into account broader sustainable co
-
benefits of supported mitigation and adaptation action also comes back in the Agreement’s text, which calls for the promotion of ‘ sustainable development and environmental integri ty’
(Art. 6.1)

So basically it's a blank check, and contains a grab-bag of every cause known to man.

Quote
2015 - Paris Climate Change Conference - (November)

In accordance with decision 18/CP.20, the report on the in-session workshop on gender-responsive climate policy with a focus on mitigation action and technology development and transfer was considered by the SBI at its forty-third session in Paris. In addition, in accordance with decision 23/CP.18, the Gender Composition Report for 2015 was also considered.

In decision 1/CP.21, which annexes the Paris agreement, Parties acknowledge that "climate change is a common concern of humankind, Parties should when taking action to address climate change, respect, promote and consider their respective obligations on human rights, the right to health, the rights of indigenous peoples, local communities, migrants, children, persons with disabilities and people in vulnerable situations and the right to development, as well as gender equality, empowerment of women and intergenerational equity".

Have you read the accords? Read them and you'll get my point.

that's quite the go=fetch you're throwing down! Could you be any more vague or non-specific?

The "financial mechanism" is pernicious

how so... in what ways?

So basically it's a blank check, and contains a grab-bag of every cause known to man.

why not go directly to the fund's website itself instead of a somewhat dated 3rd party representation? Care to qualify your statement - how is it a blank cheque?

no - there is only one principal causal tie behind the creation of the Green Climate Fund:

Quote
... created to support the efforts of developing countries to respond to the challenge of climate change. GCF helps developing countries limit or reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and adapt to climate change. It seeks to promote a paradigm shift to low-emission and climate-resilient development, taking into account the needs of nations that are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts.

within your expressed "grab bag", care to offer a case example that has you so vehemently against related proposals within the GCF?

No, that's hyperbole.  Thanks for excerpting and writing that comment though... you saved me a lot of time.

Who supervises the use of the money?

you appear unwilling to put any effort forward - beyond a cut&paste. I'm quite familiar with the Governance, fully documented, multi-faceted, multi-tiered, etc..

if you have a concern, please articulate

What does gender concerns have to do with climate change?

a gender responsive approach is a guideline in proposals and decision making; example, as follows. Do you have a particular problem with this?

Catherine Mckenna was interviewed by Michael Enright this am on environmental issues and at one point she does discuss her ideas on the gender connection to the issue. The text available doesn't nclude that portion so I can't cut and paste but the segment is here. I found it interesting.
