I didn't know about that song.

LMFAO was in heavy rotation in our house this year.

Hi Montgomery, and welcome.  This forum is great due to minimal moderation and posters limiting themselves (most of the time) in terms of their conduct.  Most of us have been posting together, here and elsewhere, for some years and are happy to welcome a new voice.

I saw on another post that you were asking for ideas to bring more posters here, which we all support.  Unfortunately, there's a lot of wingnuts who want a place to spread their wingnuts around, so it's a struggle to filter those out.  But then again, perhaps being a little smaller is part of what makes this forum more civil than some others.

Hi Juniper, I've been posting on forums since about 99 and so will know some of you if you've kept the same name. I haven't. Currently I'm posting on 4 boards and that's mostly because I don't have a lot of hope of surviving the bias of most of them. Over the years I've learned that it doesn't work that way. However, I would say that it's gotten better now because the surviving forums are more interested in  traffic than political ideologies. They have to!

So this forum concept is an old one as you will know.

Some of them I can remember: Sympatico, CBC forums, Maple leaf, and at least a dozen US forums I've been banned from. I notice that some of the old bans have been taken down now and so the competition will get bigger. A good reason why this one is going to have to perform well. And it's always going to be a hard job of separating out the spammers without unduly chasing too many people away.

Cheers

If Maple Leaf was Breaking Bad, this forum is Better Call Saul.  A few of old characters still appear, but overall it's pulled its own weight and lasted longer than any of us thought it would.

I used to be on CBC forums in the early 2000's too, also Yahoo message boards until they were sued and removed the comments.  Those were probably the best forums I was ever on.  I'm sure we've crossed paths before.

Welcome to CPE!

I can certainly understand why people would leave MLW. Right wing bias etal.

I was on the National Post forums initially.
Some ending up on MLW, like Morris Dancer, American Woman and Uncle Joe.

I was on Rabble also.

Yeah, we probably have crossed paths. So let me think.............

Remember: Is it time to send in the ground troops?

Anyway, those were the days on the CBC forum. They had to censor people for their political views that weren't consistent with government. Then they had to take it down for that reason. Wish I could remember the name of the guy that had to suffer through the process of keeping it sanitary. LOL

Care to share your posting name on CBC forums? I'll share mine by p.m. at least.

I thought you and I were on at least one other forum before the national post. Advancode or some such thing. Do you recall the posters Mogwai or jlk? I think they predated the Nat Post too. I seem to recall migrating along with them somewhere along the line.
