Quote function malfunction
« on: February 12, 2021, 04:25:30 pm »
Anyone else having issues quoting other member's posts lately?

Sometime's the quote function works but I'm all too often getting the previous post I quoted or nothing at all.   It seems a quoted post flashes momentarily on my screen then abruptly disappears. I'm using Chrome.

Yep, if I start a message on a thread and end up not posting it, it gets stuck like a draft.  Any other post I try to make on the thread goes to my draft but only on that thread, not others.

My fix is to just delete the content, leaving one character so that it posts, and then posting/deleting.

I'm using Chrome too.

I noticed that too. Hopefully they fix it soon.

My glitches may be unique in that I start typing and often times I just think forget it I don't want to get into this and leave the post.  Since I've quoted it, it remains a draft.

For you non wishy-washy posters it may not be a problem.   :)

hey squiggy - I've noticed an occasional malfunction in your quoting... a very odd 'function malfunction' where the quote tag doesn't include the author's name... or other particulars that would allow a member to, if desired, select the linked reference to view the quoted reference in its entirety - you know, for full context! It's quite odd that this malfunction appears only to be associated with you/your quote posting activity.

squiggy, it appears the function malfunction extends to also trigger you! Wait, what? I'm being told it's not actually a malfunction... it seems you take it upon yourself to remove details that would actually identify who you're quoting and prevent the ability of members to link back to the actual post your quoted text originates from. Why would anyone do such a moronic thing, hey member squiggy?

Today it seems its only the COVID culture thread in which the quote function doesn't work.

The bug mutated IOW.

just an example of your oft plied handywork where you purposely slice&dice quotes to remove the member name and the ability to reference full context - such a moronic thing to do, hey! As for 'setting fire', who posted this hairOnFire gem?  ;D

I'm getting it now on Safari. Doesn't seem like a browser problem.
