Well I wouldn't have nominated him if I were Ford, yes the appearance of favoritism is apparent.
I'm just saying it's not like when JFK hired his brother to be his Attorney General because he was a totally unelected appointment. So is Ford's nephew ineligible for cabinet due to his relation even though he's an elected MP? I would say no but he should have waited another term.
Ford does a decent job as premier and then did things like this, so dumb.
