In BC, unlike the rest of Canada, the provincial Liberals are the de-facto right wing party, so that isn't anything new here.   BC's "right of center" party had been the Social Credit party, but they collapsed due to scandal sometime in the 1990s.  The provincial liberals filled that void, leaving it effectively a 2-party province-- Liberals on the right, NDP on the left.  Attempts to start a provincial right-wing alternative-- a BC Reform Party once upon a time, and a BC Progressive Conservative Party more recently, have fizzled out.

But long story short, our BC provincial Liberals aren't the same as the Liberal Party elsewhere in Canada. And they don't market themselves as such. They might be the most "pro business" government in the country. They're pretty much wolves in wolves clothing.
