I am the first to criticize a legitimate claim of racism or police abuse. Like you though I can not help but wonder what the reaction would be if the dead man had been black. Many are thinking that but afraid to say it in the open as you have for fear of being called racist. There is a double standard with the police when it comes to blacks in the name of combating racism but it is probably promoting racism as much as it is preventing it by creating that double standard. Most of us black, white, brown, yellow, we want a gang banger or anyone with a gun taken down. We don't care what damn ethnicity or skin colour they are. This world has gone nuts.

What now were the police racist because the guy they killed was Caucasian? Using Black Lives Matter logic, that is the case.

In any event you ask me the cut back of the anti organized gang units and carding has enabled this resurgence of gangs and guns on the street in a more visible way. Also it is a fact that when there are long summer hours of good weather, crime and violent crime sky rockets as there is more time on the streets for gang bangers and all kinds of criminals who would otherwise be at home avoiding the cold or rain. There is a cycle of increased crime in the summer but this spike is particular to gang violence. There are too many hand guns in Toronto.

Is it any wonder? Our borders and state security  have been made a mockery of by the current regime. I am no fascist. I am not calling for a police state. I know the delicate balance in a democratic state if the police and state powers get too tight. We saw that in the disasterous G7 pincer movement against innocent people caught in downtown Toronto. I get it.

I just think with gangs however we need a special unit and it should be allowed to shake down known gang members especially those wearing colours. Its the reality of the streets,. Police prevented gang members from showing their colours in the wrong places at the wrong times. They were on top of it. Now they were told to back off. Uniformed police are not the answer. A specialized anti gang unit is.
