--- Quote ---Curriculum advisers hand-picked by the Alberta government are recommending changes to the kindergarten-to-Grade 4 curriculum for fine arts and social studies that would eliminate all references to residential schools and "equity."

The advisers also recommend that seven- and eight-year-olds learn about feudalism, Chinese dynasties and Homer's Odyssey in social studies classes.

The drafts, obtained by CBC News, include lengthy lists of names, landmarks and events for young children to memorize.

They say five- and six-year-olds in Grade 1 should be familiar with the artwork of Claude Monet, Georgia O'Keefe, Pablo Picasso and Edgar Degas.

They also say first graders should learn Bible verses about creation as poetry and fourth graders should learn that most non-white Albertans are Christians.

Supernatural religious beliefs are fading out of the mainstream of society and conservatism will suffer along with it unless they distance themselves from the nonsense.

The trouble is, if they run away from religion, conservatism will lose most of it's meaning.

Those Christians who insist on holding on can still take it to their churches and make believe in private. It's harmless to others as long as no important decisions are made that are based on religious beliefs.

This attempt to push the supernatural onto young children has to be considered child abuse.

How so ?  Conservatism is about old timey values, which should include pluralism.

Also pragmatism.

But mostly - supporting the wealthy.

That was just one part of it, as I read it.  I think it's cool to teach the bible as storytelling.  They have Santa in school too.

Michael Hardner:
For that matter

They should teach from other holy books.  Surely there's some fun kid's tale in the Koran... I dunno... like somebody's hand got cut off for stealing or something...
