I think it shows how conservative the BC NDP are….

The BC NDP have been pragmatic, focused on issues that average British Columboids care about, and for the most part have delivered pretty decent results in difficult circumstances. While I have some ideological differences with them on some issues, I think they've been as good a provincial government as I've experienced. I voted for them last time out and barring something out of left field, won't feel bad about voting for them next time.

Vassy Kapelos is so much better a journalist than Senator Barton is.

Early April, Del Duca does this big grandstanding thing about how Ford was literally murdering your grandma by removing mask mandates and vaccine mandates, accuses him of playing political games with people's lives.

A couple of days later, we see these pictures from an Ontario Liberals rally, a jam packed indoors gathering with hundreds of people where nobody is wearing a mask or social distancing.

So who's really playing political games? If these people really thought lives were at risk, wouldn't somebody have been wearing a mask?

And, as "the sixth wave" tore through Ontario and resulted in BARELY OBSERVABLE impact on the healthcare system, the Ontario Liberals went from "Ford is playing GAMES with PEOPLE'S LIVES" to "let's talk about...  HANDGUNS".

I certainly get the argument that right-wing political parties have played political games with the pandemic.    But if you're going to tell me that their opponents aren't doing the same, I think the Del Duca Liberals are Exhibit A in the counter-argument.

And honestly, I don't have any particular feeling for Dug or the Ontario PCs, but I'm positively delighted to see Del Dookie get absolutely steamrollered after launching his campaign based on politicizing covid restrictions. I'm very pleased that pandering to the 3 or 4 Very Online People who still think covid is a THREAT TO LIFE AS WE KNOW IT was such a spectacular failure. **** that guy, **** his party, and **** everybody who tries to politicize covid.

They have been pretty disappointing haven’t they. I used to think better than Christy Clark but other than scrapping MSP and a bridge toll, I can’t think of anything ‘progressive’ they’ve done.

The Twitter class will bemoan the 42% turnout.

If you don't vote, you can't complain. This was not a change election. Ontario didn't hate Doug as much as the Public Service Unions want you to believe.

In fact, much like in the US. Private Labour and the Blue Collar has rallied around the populist Ford. A highway to relieve congestion is actually quite popular in the ridings you need to win to take Ontario.

"Sensible shoes" politics ?

Ok, kimmy, but I am not crying today.

A Conservative won by:

- Dropping the language of divisiveness and anger
- Taking action on Covid when public health said so
- Kissing the chucklef*cks goodbye
- Some left programs like subsidized daycare

The Liberals thought the McGuinty era was as fabulous as they thought it was.  Now they can finally ctrl=alt=delete that unpopular bunch.  Likewise with Horwath.  My fabulous  MPP won 55%, may be the next Premier and may have a thing for me....

I am not crying.

Regarding FPTP bitching.

Ontario actually put Mix Member Proportional Representation to a Referendum in 2007. It was soundly defeated. Not reason to go back to any form of electoral reform.

I think Left-Wing voters think a vote for the Liberals is always a vote for the Liberals. In a two-party model, which is what an alternative system will create, the party dynamics and makup will change.

Also popular with the rich developers who have the OPC in their pocket. Also: imagine thinking building a highway to relieve congestion is a thing in the year 2022.
