Title: U.S. Law
Post by: Omni on February 23, 2020, 11:27:46 pm
I just finished listening to a BBC "Hardtalk" interview featuring Alan Dershowitz, where of course he was questioned as to his flip flops on the validity of impeachment, especially as to the current one involving his buddy/client Donald Trump. His responses to questions on that were of course contradictory and I would say cringe worthy. But beyond that he did state that he has done, and is happy to, act to defend clients he knows to be guilty. He attempts to justify that by saying simply that everyone deserves to be represented/defeneded during their day in court. Is that valid or just the standard ambulance chaser trying to bill fees?

It’s perfectly valid to say everyone deserves a rigorous defence because it’s up to the prosecution to show guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.  Unfortunately, money buys a rigorous defence and the justice system is stacked in favour of those having money.
