Title: Music Streaming
Post by: Squidward von Squidderson on February 01, 2020, 12:07:38 am
Anyone here use a music streaming service?   I am on the last day of a 30 day trial with Tidal.   I really like what I’m hearing. For $10/month I never have to buy another song or album again. For $20/month, I could stream hi-fi and not the compressed signal, which might be cool but a bit pricey.

I’m going to keep the subscription. Anything I’ve searched for on Tidal has come up...   their library is massive.  And the music is downloadable...

You mean like Spotify?

Yes I have that, but only as a backup.

For Mobile music I prefer SiriusXM and vinyl at home.

I use Google Play Music.  I really like their curated play lists.

Free version?  Or does it cost?

They have a free version, but I pay $10 for the upgraded version.  It gives you more options for playing artists, and also lets you upload your own files for streaming.

Streaming is great for the music industry, musicians getting paid again.  I don't use any of it though, I don't listen to enough music.  Not enough recent music is interesting enough to me, which is sad.  Rock is almost dead.  I dabble in older music.

We host parties....   so music is a necessity.  TIDAL seems to be really good.

Cite please Gost.

App royalties are a pittance from what I heard.

Still liking the Tidal streaming service.

Anyone listen to orchestral soundtracks?

I’m liking the Star Wars:  Rogue One soundtrack.  Anyone have any good recommendations?

Wow - what an idea.  I have a few on vinyl ... not that they make any sense.

Romeo and Juliet - the 60s/70s film and Battlestar Gallactica (?) the 70s I think John Williams

Was Battlestar a movie too, or just a TV show?  I watched it as a kid.   Tidal has the Battlestar soundtrack...  composer was Stu Phillips.  I will give it a listen.   I love the new version of that show that ran a few years ago.

In fact they did something weird.  They pitched it as a series and made a few episodes, which they pasted together and released as a movie.

The show was a rip off, although they used the Star Wars effects team.
