With miracles of construction today they will rebuild it-the wood won't be the same of course and it won't be the same thing but.... the French and Vatican will rebuild it. I appreciate it won't be the real thing no of course not but I am sure they will try to replicate as much as they can not withstanding the lost wooden statutes and gargoyles, etc.. My question is, what the phack...., how could this renovation have done this? Surely they had safety procedures? I guess not. I mean with the wood that old, what were they thinking if they put anything hot near it!? I would love to see what caused this. Like some of you I was in it when I visted Paris. Quite the stained glass masterpiece inside I remember. I think that was destroyed...the one with the roses. They built churches to make people feel small in the face of God. That one sure did. It felt huge inside. I have always been intimidated by those grand old churches. Just the arches on the way in make you feel so tiny. Yes a shame. Seems Paris has had its share of pain the last few years. Is it Karma?

They say it was less Karma than it was an electrical short. I myself suspect one of those Frenchies didn't properly butt out his Gitanes.

Oh go on stretch your imagination. Do you think the Catholic church in France ever did anything evil?
I am just pointing out the memories associated with his building are not all righteous. It's still a tragedy but if I was one of those tortured or maltreated by the powers behind this symbol, maybe it going up in flames is appropriate.
I am not saying that to downplay what happened, just give another perspective we forget and maybe should not. The bottom line is it's a material symbol and the real importance are the souls who went in and out of it, not the building itself. Christ warned not to confuse materiality with sprituality? He warned of the dangers of idol worship. Maybe we would not forget it's just a building at one level and that what really counts are the souls of its visitors who can meet anywhere or look in ourselves to do good deeds. We don,' t need a particular building to do that.
I of course am in awe of its beauty. However it's not a replacement for the magnificence that can be found in each soul. For a Jew
I get much appreciate that gospel from Jesus about the Temple being within us. It is a classic lesson of both our religions.
I think sometimes we get too caught up with statutes, for, etc. I appreciate the beauty of it but then also question why do we need to focus on material things to feel God?
