Title: The Super Bowl
Post by: Pinus or Vid or...????? on February 03, 2019, 03:45:40 pm
Will you be watching it? I want to see the Rams win, but believe that Brady will have a great game, and retire a winner and lead the Pats to the Super Bowl.

3-0 in 1st half indoors.  Super Bore.

That Super Bowl has to be considered a disappointment.

I bet Brady is pretty happy.

I guess some people are only entertained by scoring.  I thought this was a great defensive battle.  It was still up for grabs even until the final minutes, and the New England defense came up huge when the Rams were in scoring position, first in breaking up what looked like a sure touchdown and then with the interception on the 4 yard line.

I think the Rams defense was just on the field for too much of the game and got worn down. They played a really strong game until the fourth quarter, but I think they were just running on fumes at that point.

I was surprised to hear that Julian Edelman is 2nd all time in career post-season receptions. Although, considering how many playoff games the Patriots play, I guess it shouldn't be a surprise.  I'm not sure he was the MVP today. He was the best offensive player on the field, but in a game that was really won by the defense I think the MVP should have been somebody on the defense.

Was it a defensive battle ?  It looked like blitz after blitz from the Patriots gave forced bad throws and shitty run plays from the Rams.  Then 3 and out.

Turned if off just before half time and watched some stuff I had saved on the PVR and then the news. Guess I'm not a real NFL fan.

I didn't watch it at all. Don't get me wrong--I love that people get super enthusiastic about this stuff. I just really don't care for football. I did watch the Raptors take it to the Clippers though.

NFL is a boring league.  I wish the football was better... I try to watch it, but it's terrible.  It was telling when the announcers were poking fun that the most exciting play was a long punt.

I have a hard time watching football because I never took the time to understand the rules and strategies. I understand it at a basic level (move the chains, get close enough to score), but beyond that I'm lost.

I love CFL...   it has a 2nd tier of playing talent, hardly any teams, but is a much better game.

I understand that I am in the minority in having enjoyed the Superbowl, but this has been a great season of football.  I haven't seen so many great games in a long time.  The AFC championship game from 2 weeks ago, for example.  People are complaining about a game that ended 13-3, but offense has never been more dominant in the NFL.  Getting to watch all-time greats like Tom Brady and Drew Brees, as well as emerging stars like Patrick Mahomes and others, I don't think there's ever been a better time to be a football fan. I haven't enjoyed watching football this much since I was a little kid.

Hopefully the new Halifax franchise will go ahead. East and West can finally be balanced.

I watched the second half. First superbowl I've ever watched, despite watching most CFL games. I agree the CFL has a much better game. I don't understand why they form a circle around the punted ball and watch it go dead. Why don't they pick it up and run with it?

They don't have no yards so you can be hit the second you touch the ball, that's why they have the fair catch. In Canadian football, the only player who can pick up a kick if it hasn't been touched is the kicker. I don't know if this applies to the NFL as well.

Picking up the ball means you will get destroyed as the punting team doesn't need to give you space.  It means that if the punt is half decent, there will be no return.  It seems a punt return is pretty rare in the NFL.

LA punted the ball 9 times.  There were 2 returns for 2 total yards.
NE punted 5 times, with 2 returns for 12 yards.
