Title: World Sexual Hunger
Post by: Michael Hardner on December 23, 2017, 08:35:23 am
Sexual hunger is not like food hunger in that you don't need sex to live but it IS an appetite and as such I was thinking about World Sexual Hunger as a metric.  I have a feeling that World Sexual Hunger is on the decline owing to religion's declining influence, and the pervasiveness of liberal culture.  There is a new kind of prudishness and necessary re-building of morality around sexuality to allow for theoretically unlimited sexual expression within the bounds of consent of course.

But we now have a situation, at least in the west, where a person's private sexual life is largely regarded as out-of-bounds in public life including legislation.  I say 'largely' as there are still 90% of countries that restrict women's behaviour legally (as per an interview with the female head of the IMF recently).

The next big change is the acknowledgement/allowance of polygamy in public life.  I see this everywhere in my circles and while I can't personalize how it would work, I can understand it intellectually.  My marriage is the centre of my life and I can't see risking it, even if I could fantasize indulging temptation.  That's really as far as that goes for me, but others see it differently.

Do you agree with my assessment ?

Not a chance. Marriage more than about sex. It is about a financial partnerships that cannot be practically extended to multiple relationships. More importantly, the laws have been tilted so much against men and in favour of women that marrying one woman puts a man at serious risk of being beggared/enslaved to support a spouse that opts for divorce. These risks would multiply with multiple wives. The only way "polygamy" would become accepted is if public mistresses become the acceptable but such arrangements reek of old style patriarchy and I can't see it becoming socially acceptable.

I knew a woman who was a mistress ... for years with a married man. He paid for near everything for her, apt, clothes, gifts, biz trips, to name a few. I'm guessing he was rich and she asked if I wanted to do that, she knew lots men who would love to have me - I was like, uhh... no, but thanks for the education tho. lol. Polyamory, a woman with say what, 3 -5 hubby's? wow, guess they would be like, Mr. this week-day in the date book? it would definitely be quite some sort of arrangement for all parties involved but not too dissimilar from ****?
