It's a good thing that human values and spirit are no longer factors, and that the cultural awakening of the 1960s died in the cradle, so we can focus on our careers.
What horseshit.

I thought it was interesting, and there was a lot of truth in it. You can growl at the focus on careers but until someone figures out how to give us all a free house, car and life of contentment the food we eat has to come from our career. The better our career the better our food, and house and car, and vacations and the less agonizing over how to pay the bills. I've been where you have very little money, and I've been where you have lot of disposable income. The latter is WAY better.

No **** Sherlock. I guess "Lucy" better knuckle down and face a bit of reality.

Unstated in this is having little money is WAY better than it used to be.

That's it... the problem isn't out of control real estate prices, or tuition fees and student debt, or anything else... it's that Lucy's expectations are just too high.
I can only assume some Baby Boomer lecturing is on the way.
"Kids these days want everything handed to them! You just gotta roll up your sleeves! Pound the pavement! Start at the bottom and work your way up! When I was your age, I went into the head office and stood in front of the manager and said 'I am not leaving until you hire me!' and they handed me a broom and told me to start sweeping! A year later, I was the Regional Vice President of Sales!"
It's time to dig up those Old Economy Steve memes again.

Not THE problem, but A problem, perhaps.

Never mind that $6 in 1980 bought as much as $18 today, not counting education, gas, food, and housing since they far outpaced inflation.
