Title: Bad Sweets
Post by: Michael Hardner on November 18, 2017, 11:11:16 am
I grew up when the packaged food revolution was well matured.  We ate bad food, but we didn't eat too much of it so we were still healthy.  And we still walked to school and there were no video games so we exercised even if it was just walking.

But the candy in those days was atrocious

I think I just missed this candy but my younger siblings ate it all the time.  I remembered wondering if it was safe to just eat pure sugar.  They were already saying too much sugar *might* be bad.  Have you ever seen this ?

Is nutrition improving ?  Is it though ?

I bought some leftover Halloween candies on Nov 1, including a big bag of "Rockets" which are basically just sugar and citric acid compressed into a pill shape.  I buy those every year after Halloween. They're yummy.  I'm sure it's no healthier than dipping a stick made of sugar and citric acid into little packets made of sugar and citric acid.

The knowledge is improving, as are the options. That doesn't mean people are going to pay attention. I am constantly amazed at what I see people eat for lunch at work.

I can understand a poor field diet, but not when one is at home.
