Unbelievable and heartbreaking story about northern Mexico as a failed state, that was unable to protect its own people after the DEA unwisely shared cell phone numbers of cartel leaders with their government.

The "war on drugs" on the whole has been a gigantic failure... here in Canada, and the US, it has served only to line the pockets of the Hell's Angels and other criminal groups who will commit any degree of violence to protect their income.  In Mexico and Columbia and Afghanistan, and many other places, it's even worse.

Agreed.  Central America is a violent hellhole because of it.  Legalize drugs & get these products out of the hands of killers & scumbags.
