1. I can say that LBJ passed the Civil Rights Act ... which was a major force to removing segregation but I can't find any "Eroding the Family Unit" act.

2. I would say that the "culture" itself created these outcomes, based on what they wanted... ie. freedom.

1. I'm not making any claims against LBJ's laws specifically.  But i am talking any culture, laws, and society generally.  The "progress" has been uneven, to say the least.  Society is healthier in some ways, and unhealthier in others, and some of this came out of the 60's rights movements.  Are you saying all progress has been positive?  Are you saying the family unit has only made positive strides since the 60's?

2. Like what i've said already.  Rights are fine, they mean freedom, which is good.  But rights without responsibilities , especially when it comes to rights given to adults that can negatively affect children, is often not good.  When people fight for their own rights for themselves, this is inherently self-serving.  There's nothing wrong with that, unless it negatively affects others, especially children, who can't advocate for themselves.

People have a right to get divorced, to have pre-marital sex without proper protection, to have children out of wedlock or outside stable longterm relationships, and women have a right to get abortions, to have careers outside the home.  These rights benefit the person exercising them, but did anyone pause to think what the effect would be to children, or to the family unit, and by extension to society in general?  It's been the kids who have taken it on the chin, or been seen as a problem who need to be "deleted" (abortion), because "my rights".

To link this to what we were discussing, in New York there are more black babies aborted annually than are born.   If these babies were not aborted then the 70% of black kids growing up in single-parent families would be what, 90%?  This is the signal of a societal dysfunction.  It seems pretty obvious that poor black people are having unprotected sex outside stable, longterm relationships/marriage at alarming rates.  Yes drugs and drug laws have an effect on these stats. There's legal problems to be fixed, but also cultural problems.  If black people, and all people really, make simple decisions like never trying drugs, and never having unprotected sex outside stable, longterm relationships/marriage it would improve society and families greatly.

And who is saying this stuff right now?  What we mostly hear about is racism, and cops killing people, and "my rights", because people want to think of themselves and others with poor outcomes as victims.  Sometimes they are, and rights are important, but rights without responsibilities doesn't do much in these cases.  It feels good to think of yourself as a victim, it does not feel good to look in the mirror and own your own poor decisions, and it's been this way since the 60's.  Because we live in a self-absorbed society filled with entitled people, and this is the result.  And if you say this stuff, everyone gets offended and call you a racist or a sexist because their egos want to see themselves as the victim and don't want to look in the mirror.  And I know this as a fact because I used to do it myself much more often because this is how we were taught to think growing up, and it took me half my life to figure it out, and clearly a lot never do because it's not the message our culture has embraced, quite the opposite.

So if you want better sleep, yeah you can rightfully point to racism, but you might also want to stop waiting for the government to save you and take things into your own hands, "go make your bed", don't ever try drugs, don't have unprotected sex out of wedlock, do everything you can to make sure your kids follow this and study hard and get a decent education so they aren't raising 2 kids alone while working 2 crappy jobs and their sleep sucks because of it.
