What also gets me about the complaint here is the idea that being open to hiring people from underrepresented groups means you have to hire someone who isn't qualified which sort of gives the game away.
That's because your ideology protects you from ever considering anything logically. If you're hiring the best, most capable person for the job you don't need hiring/diversity quotas.
And he specifically said he had a diverse workforce and was completely open to hiring whoever was the best applicant. But that's clearly not what you want.
