The Economist weights in on threats to Academic Freedom.

Wokism is in there, as are paid donors and their pet politics as are the latest anti-Woke laws.

It's only so-so but the host does make an attempt after the Ken Roth interview to determine what the overall impact of all of this is.

For my woke friends on here, it's not ZERO.  There are at least concerns, considering that requiring professors to write and sign diversity statements isn't always set in a clear framework.  Our research teams in Canada (once called NSERC) are required to include diversity frameworks for research teams, which makes sense as it's about a framework.

But it's not always clear....

It used to be content of character, not colour of your skin.  Now it’s all about colour of skin.  They even came up with “people of colour” to describe people, which is just a fancy way of saying coloured people.  Which used to be thought of as offensive.  They’re also reinstating segregation.  Separate dorms for whites.  Events that whites are banned from attending, etc.  It’s insane.

I never said this ever existed.  I said people were less racist when most people didn't care what somebody's race was.  Now even a lot of the anti-racists are racist, to go along with the typical knuckle-dragging racists.

Because treating people differently (better or worse) due to their skin colour is literally the definition of racism.

And I'm asking when it was that no one cared what race someone was and when people were less racist. Because I gotta say, in my experience, people are a helluva lot less racist now than ever in my lifetime (at least openly).

That's not even remotely the definition of racism. Racism a belief that that groups of people possess different behaviours and traits depending on their race and (and this is crucial) that certain races are inherently superior.

But are you saying treating someone worse, like ie: denying someone a job based only on the colour of their skin isn't racist?  Because that's what racial discrimination is.  Except for the racists who think some races can be discriminated against and others can't.

Who hasn't?

GTA is one of the most racist places i've ever been to, which surprised me.  A lot of people congregate into their own ethnic ghettos and hiss at the outsiders when they move in.  Went with a friend looking at basement apartments in the city.  Holy crap.  You go closer to downtown or some of the more multicultural neighbourhood its better.  You come from a developing country and that stuff doesn't disappear overnight.  And the racist whites just GTFO and move to Oakville or Barrie etc.

Anyways, we live in an age where the first thing a lot of people do is look up and down at the skin hues of the people in every organization and if you don't have the right mix of skin colours in your org people shout "racism!" and they put in official racist policies and call it "diversity & inclusion".  That's some of the most racist sh*t i've ever heard.  I hope this is just some phase and in 20 years this is all gone and nobody give a f*** anymore.

Ya like the wokies don't have a racial totem pole in their minds.  How often do east asians get the sympathy vote compared to other minorities with darker skin?  The wokies have inverterted their racism.
