Where are you from?

[Hardner raps]
Born in a borough that no longer exists.
My origin story begins there and twists
Through Eastern Ontario, and Europe and lists
A few other cities I hold in my fists....

"Toronto"

It's funny... I remember Toronto in the 60s and 70s.

Up until the Quebec separatist movement, it was a self-mocking second city of Canada, trying to convince itself it was something more.  Then as it surpassed Montreal in the 1980s it embarrassingly started calling itself 'world class', thereby showing that it wasn't.

Then by the 2000s it started becoming all the things it had tried to be.  It no longer calls itself world-class, so it may be a minor world class city now.  But the big problems are here now, and Toronto seems to wonder what it is today.

Did the heart of the city leave ?  I don't know.

Note, I moved from Montreal to Toronto in 1980.

Where are you located?

At the moment I am in Montreal, but I spend time in a small rural community in eastern Ontario and a bit in New Brunswick.

I came into the world in TO and then grew up a little north in lovely Muskoka. Then I had the good fortune of working all over the country. My last major permanent address change was from the "right island" to the "left island" I wish they had had "road mile points" back then.
