It's funny... I remember Toronto in the 60s and 70s.

Up until the Quebec separatist movement, it was a self-mocking second city of Canada, trying to convince itself it was something more.  Then as it surpassed Montreal in the 1980s it embarrassingly started calling itself 'world class', thereby showing that it wasn't.

Then by the 2000s it started becoming all the things it had tried to be.  It no longer calls itself world-class, so it may be a minor world class city now.  But the big problems are here now, and Toronto seems to wonder what it is today.

Did the heart of the city leave ?  I don't know.
