Trying to watch some of the Oscar flicks, so:
Manchester by the Sea - One of the most depressing movies I've ever seen. Very realistic portrayal of basically the worst things that could happen to your average guy. I don't really see any point to this movie other than realism for realism's sake, or showing tragedy for tragedy's sake in a very realistic way. If you want to be depressed, please watch this. If you want to enjoy your life, avoid killing 2 hours of it here.
Hell or High Water - Enjoyed this more, but not really worthy of winning "Best Picture". Basically a story about some sheriffs chasing some shitty bank robbers around Texas. Yee-haw.
I won't be watching La-La Land because I'm not really into the singing and dancing movies. *jazz hands*.
Saw 'Arrival'. Definitely the best 2017 Oscar nominated flick I've seen so far. Some chick friends of mine watched Hidden Figures, they said Arrival was better.
