Almost done The Sympathizer:

A look at the Vietnam war through Vietnamese eyes. The unnamed narrator is really a communist "half breed" who has infiltrated the South Vietnamese military special police and escapes to America as a refugee on the fall of Saigon to continue to monitor the "General" and his attempts to rekindle the war.

Friendships, betrayal, that sort of thing.

The NY Times review here spells it out well: https://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/05/books/review/the-sympathizer-by-viet-thanh-nguyen.html

NPR did an interview with the author which is very interesting:  http://www.npr.org/2016/05/17/478384200/author-viet-thanh-nguyen-discusses-the-sympathizer-and-his-escape-from-vietnam
