I have a nice little PT Cruiser, with (ahem) all-season tires, 2nd season of use. There's been a foot of snow since Friday. Yesterday afternoon, we thought we 'd take our dogs out to our friends for a good run, but got about 10 blocks up King George and decided that wasn't a good idea - slippy slippy and other people on the road who think weaving between cars and running orange lights is a good idea. Part of good winter driving is knowing when NOT to drive, imo.
BF was due for surgery this morning at 5:30 am, in VGH and we're in Surrey. Got up at 4 am, and it had just started snowing again. Left at 4:20 am and took our time, the snow was sticking and parts of the road were slushy/slippery but traffic was very light. Made it to the hospital by 5:20 and I hung around while BF was prepped, then had breakfast. By the time I headed back, the snow had stopped, all main routes were just wet and I was against rush hour traffic, so trip home was about 30 minutes.
I learned to drive in the Cariboo, and lived in the Peace River area for a while so I'm not inexperienced with snow driving. Mostly I'm worried about other drivers so I avoid winter driving as much as possible.
