Some might find this weird, but some don't get poetry.

So I came across this on YouTube the other day and I thought it was postable for a couple of reasons. This girl is basically showing pictures of "fans who took it too far" which can be amusing in itself. But I got distracted by the fact she has 6.6 million subscribers. For comparison purposes, the Tonight show gets about 2.5 million viewers nightly, and Late Night gets less than 1.5 million.

Why the hell does this girl have 6.6 million subscribers!? And what does that get you? Well, I went to this 'analystics' web site, and plugged in her name. Her ten and fifteen minute videos have gotten 64 million views in the last thirty days. They can't say for sure, but based on her viewership, and wildly depending on what deals she has with advertisers, they figure she's pulling in somewhere between a quarter million and four million dollars per year.

She's 24 years old.

Wow, SJ.... she's one of the most annoying people I've ever seen on Youtube. What an awful voice. It's incredible to me that 6.6 million people want to hear that voice on a regular basis.

To me it seems like her gimmick is that she's a pretty white girl trying to do an impression of the "Ain't Nobody Got Time For Dat" lady.

It seems like she got famous for being a cute girl and a gamer, and doing videos showing herself playing video games, and then doing commentary on video games. Video gamers tend to be male, nerdy, and, let's say they react in a very predictable way to the presence of a cute girl. She doesn't always use that voice. Here she is reporting on a video game convention, and if you can't imagine what all those nerdy gamers see in a girl who looks like this in a dress like this  well...  ;D

I sometimes watch the My Drunk Kitchen videos on YouTube because they remind me of when my girlfriend and I were living together.  We had more dancing in our videos, though.

Step 1.  Make sure you bought cheese, otherwise it's just a video of How To Make Toast.

This is only weird from my perspective because I expect such a high level of political correctness that I'm fairly sure this would NEVER happen in Canada. Or if it did there'd be complaints.  It's also a fun video in watching the reactions of people. It's a holiday flash mob of the US air force band and choir at the air and space museum.

WOW.

It seems to me that some time ago there was an earthquake in Iran and half the country collapsed... it was a major disaster. I wonder if shoddy materials contributed to the extent of the disaster.

There was the much more recent controversy in England regarding the flammable cladding... I believe there was also something in China regarding shoddy building materials.  Rebar that breaks like chalk isn't exactly "weird/fun"... it's actually pretty scary.

I've bought a few Pakistani knives on eBay recently. Each blade blank is allegedly subjected to a hardness test and I've performed a proof test on each knife when they arrived. All were beyond satisfactory.  But I guess testing individual consumer products is a little different from testing massive batches of construction material.

Actually, I think (off topic) that people selling things on the web, with open and built-in ratings and comments have to fast-forward from a third-world business environment to a zeroth world one pretty fast.

That rebar thing is disturbing huh ?

Back to fun videos now:

I'm home sick from work today, which is bad, but I got to watch Simone Giertz's live-stream today, which is good.   An industrial robot company lent her a $100,000 robot arm, which she put to use trying to decorate her Charlie Brown looking Christmas tree.  It went about as well as all of her projects do.

I really do not do much in the way of makeup.  However, that may change, now that the world's greatest makeup artist is giving free lessons on her youtube channel!

I am sure you'll be left speechless by the astounding transformations she achieves. What wizardry is this? Is she a shape-shifter?
