Not sure if this was a rhetorical question. The capacitor effect noted in the first video can be controlled with distance and surface area. The different hand configurations likely change the exposed surface area and therefore the note.
I'm not asking why the hand gestures. I understood the science part of it... I'm just a little taken aback at the amount of time and energy she has put into mastering such an obscure instrument. I guess she has carved out a unique niche for herself in the world of music, but it's a pretty small niche to say the least. I would imagine that being one of the world's foremost theremin players would be somewhat like being one of the world's foremost Klingon linguists.
It just seems like a very oddball--
Oh, btw Kimmy. Mrs. Hardner is a known soloist in the Toronto theramin community
--.... oops.
Does she play Dick Dale songs on her theremin?
I'm for some reason not surprised that Mrs Mike plays the theremin. I am somewhat surprised that there's such thing as "the Toronto theramin community". I am assuming it's comparable in size to the Kim City caber-tossing community.
She was a consultant on Hannibal, for the series where he played one.
That's actually really cool! Did she get to teach the actor how to play, hang out on set, stuff like that?
