It was a rogue phone company I heard.  So... they need to be slapped down.

Not sure if it was accidental or not. According to the cite I posted Pakistan Telecom was ordered by the government to block access to Youtube because it had a video that had short clips showing the controversial pics of Muhammed from the Danish cartoon fiasco.

This is both weird and fun. It's fun because it's John Oliver, who is a funny guy. It's weird because it's about trade and is still funny. It's also weird because it's about the Trump administration and how it came to be fixated on trade wars, and just how loony and stunningly ignorant about trade Trump is. Also, his chief trade negotiator and the guy who tells him all about trade, Peter Navarro was found by Jared Kushner by going on Amazon.

Pete Navarro is also the guy who said on Fox News that there's a special place in hell for Justin Trudeau, and is no doubt also the "anonymous official" who referred to Trudeau as "that punk kid running Canada".

The John Oliver piece also jives with the excerpts from the Bob Woodward book, where Gary Cohn talked about the time Trump told him his genius plan to fix the national debt by printing more money.  Cohn also tried to reason with Trump on trade.

"Several times [chief economic adviser Gary] Cohn just asked the president, 'Why do you have these views [on trade]?' 'I just do,' Trump replied. 'I've had these views for 30 years.' 'That doesn't mean they're right,' Cohn said. 'I had the view for 15 years I could play professional football. It doesn't mean I was right.'"

The above article also mentions that Trump didn't want to talk to his homeland security adviser because the golf was on the television:

Trump to Tom Bossert, the president's adviser for homeland security, cyber security and counterterrorism, who asked Trump if he had a minute: "I want to watch the Masters. ... You and your cyber ... are going to get me in a war — with all your cyber ****."

This guy might be the ultimate illustration of the Dunning Kruger Effect.   Too lazy to learn anything, but convinced he knows everything.

And yet so bad is the media bubble a lot of Americans have immersed themselves in they're convinced he's a genius.

They've decided that any evidence that he's not very smart is simply lies fabricated by a media that is out to "get" him.

And they've decided that he must be an expert on trade and business because his name is on casinos and hotels and he was a big-shot on his TV show and people kissed his ass on his TV show. They've fallen in love with an image.  I remember somebody once said that Newt Gingrich is a dumb-guy's idea of what a smart-guy sounds like... I think there is probably a similar comparison for Trump.  Some segment of the populace imagines that a guy who literally **** in a golden toilet must be the epitome of success, and reject any evidence to the contrary.
